licensing question

I just graduated and got my LPN license in Idaho. I am from CA and would like to also have a license there. I thought I was going to move back to CA so I started the endorsement process, and would like to finish it to obtain my CA license, even though I have decided to stay in Idaho for a few more months. My question is: is it possible to be licensed in two different states? If I get my license in CA do i forfeit my Idaho license?

You shouldn't lose your licensure in Idaho.

I don't know how travel nursing works, exactly, but don't you have to be licensed in every state in which you practice? Then it would stand to reason that you could maintain (for awhile anyway) both CA and ID licensure.

You can obtain an endorsement to your license in any State that recognizes your nursing education, etc, and is willing to provide you with a license. You don't actually get a new LICENSE, but rather an endorsement to yours.

It's not unusual for nurses who travel to have many such endorsements, as you must hold a license valid in any State in which you want to work. You can't work without one, so....you get the endorsement.

It is actually reciprocity that you get not endorsement. You also do get a new license in the state you applied for reciporcity from. When I was travel nursing I had 14 different state license at one time...

NCLEX = reciprocity but license is endorsed and if you look on BON websites they all say Endorse not reciprocity

To the OP you can have license in many states as long as you go through the process and meet requirements and pay fees and when maintaining license meet any continual education requirements
