Specializes in CCU,ICU,ER retired.

I have been retired for the last 5 yrs. After 35 yrs of ICU and ER. I hate it but since it was a have to thing (medical) I am on SSI. I saw a job posting for a Monitor Tech at my old hospital. I was wondering if any of the management folks out there would hire a nurse for a tech job. I know I wouldn't be able to get the money I was getting when I retired, but maybe the high en of the tech scale. Oh and btw I was a monitor tech before I was a nurse but that was like 38 yrs ago. I still know all my disrhythmia and such. What do you guys thhink?

Specializes in ED, OR, SAF, Corrections.

I say if you want it and don't mind the lower pay, go for it. The worst that could happen is you not getting the job. Hope it works out for you.

Specializes in Developmental Disabilites,.

go for it. At my hospital we have several retired RNs working in various areas. Some are CNAs, techs etc. They love it and I love when they work with me.
