Nurses General Nursing

Hey There

I'm in my second year of an ADN program and if everything goes the way I think it will, I will graduate in May 2003. When this happens, I plan to go far away from where I am now. This may be a stupid question considering the nursing shortage, but is it true that I can basically go to whatever hospital I want to? So many people say that I won't have a problem going wherever I choose, but that just sounds too good to be true. Let me know..

Sorry but Western New York has way too many nurses, not enough positions, and the pay is ridiculous!!

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

In Illinois - our large, teaching hospital hires new grads for almost every unit. Huge nursing shortage, large tuition reimbursement, etc.

Specializes in NICU.

Our new grads start at $25 per hour plus diffs, and there are always openings. California has a new law related to nurse/patient ratios, so more staff are needed everywhere.

Thank you all for your input! All of you had very educational and helpful responces to my question. It looks like my options are pretty good. I am one who believes that experience in med-surg is where to go out of school. Hopefully, I can find the location I'm looking for if willing to work med-surg. Again, thank you all for your responces, Tim
