Sorry but Western New York has way too many nurses, not enough positions, and the pay is ridiculous!!

In Illinois - our large, teaching hospital hires new grads for almost every unit. Huge nursing shortage, large tuition reimbursement, etc.

Our new grads start at $25 per hour plus diffs, and there are always openings. California has a new law related to nurse/patient ratios, so more staff are needed everywhere.

Thank you all for your input! All of you had very educational and helpful responces to my question. It looks like my options are pretty good. I am one who believes that experience in med-surg is where to go out of school. Hopefully, I can find the location I'm looking for if willing to work med-surg.
