I have had three people to tell me that the NCLEX will be going to fill in the blank by Summer 2003. Is this true????

Wow! The rumors that get started! I've not heard such a thing.
Please beware what you listen to. The anxiety that accompanies nursing school and NCLEX seems to breed ignorance and rumors. Try to weed them out, and focus on the task at hand!

Heather,
Do you have something to do with the NCLEX? Do you know anyone that knows that this is only a rumor?
The last person that told me this, just took her state boards, it was her instructor that told her. This instructor teaches Nursing. The second person I heard it from, she just started nursing and her instructor told her the same thing. So how can it be rumors if these instructors who teaches Nursing and should know about the NCLEX be rumors. The first person I heard it from was told by the second person that told me about it.
Rumors or not.........I just want to know, is this true or not so that I can prepare myself for it.
Personally I don't see how it could be true, because to me, it would seem to take longer to grade and there could be a lot of errors involved.

the reason being is that nothing has been reported on Kaplan's web site. Kaplan, the giant in test prep, has a NCLEX class. Kaplan has been reporting on the huge GRE change (no more anylytical after October 1)....So, if Kaplan hasn't jumped on it, I would ignore it.

Nope. I'm nobody.
My point was: focus on your studies. So many students work themselves into a frenzy worrying about what if this, what if that. Rumors will fly. Don't listen to what your buddy's instructor's boss said. When it effects you, they'll let you know. Until then please try to remain focused.
Good luck to you.

I dont think its going to paper and pencil but I did hear that Silven learning center lost there contract with NCLEX. I dont know how that effects other stats but in mine Silven gave all the NCLEX tests.

Really? I hadn't heard that. Interesting! Silvan is, I believe, the only NCLEX testing site in Ohio also.

I agree that a fill in the blank exam would be a disaster. I can't imagine how they would grade those. I haven't heard anything about Sylvan either. Heather is so right about rumors. Getting through school should be the first priority! I have to 'step' everything!:)

It is true that Sylvian lost the contract for NCLEX. We got a packet with our NCLEX registration that gave us a seperate address and phone number to use if we where going to take the NCLEX after Sept. 10. I have not heard that the test format has changed. I would think that a fill in the blank would be impossible to grade.
