I've heard that nurses often get mistreated - like physicians treat them as an inferior subjects, even patients and other staff. And who does the "dirty work", so to speak - RNs, LPNs, CNAs.....?

I do my best not to let anyone mistreat me, coworkers, MDs, patients, families, management, etc. I'm strong enough not to let anyone make me feel inferior.

But yes, sometimes it feels like a battlezone, not often, just sometimes.

We are only going to recieve how much we are willing to take.

Just about every hospital nurse has a wide variety of experiences -- both loads of respect and plenty of unjust mistreatment/abuse from physicians, other nurses, administration, and patients/families. We get it all, the good and the bad, from all directions. Sometimes when a family makes a cake or some other treat for the nurses in order to say "thank you", it makes up for all the crap (& crappy people) we have to deal with.

Yes, unfortunately, nurses are treated less than dirt and sometimes within their own profession.

But, by the same token, nurses are often placed on a pedestal to be honored with all respect they deserve.

A for who does the "dirty"work.....we ALL pull together for the patient's benefit.

I guess it is relative...I changed careers to nursing...no MD ever treated me as badly as the judges did in my former career. Nurses see people and families at their worst. If you work at a teaching hospital, you are seeing residents without much sleep or experience and they are scared. That often brings out the worst in people. It isn't all smiles and sunshine.
