Hello all! I'm going on a three week trip with a group of high school seniors.....to GERMANY. I'm am so lost as to what I should take. What I should wear (scrubs or street clothes). I'm not a school nurse. I'm an LPN through an outside agency and have worked with this school on other trips but not to this magnitude. Any advice?

Travel light. It's western Europe and you can buy anything you need when you get there. What does the school hiring you want you to wear?

I'm so so so jealous!! Bring comfy shoes -- you'll likely be walking a lot, possibly on cobblestone.

I would consult the school but I would guess casual dress with comfortable shoes. I would get clear guidelines on what your job duties will consist of and if your going as medical support a list of medical conditions.

Unless the school has a dress code for you, go comfortable with good shoes. Watch the weather reports and pack accordingly, but pack light. If you need to take any medical supplies, remember to look at the airlines's acceptable items you can carry on board with you. They take things very, very seriously, and even if you say you have to have an item with you on board, if it doesn't meet their requirements for carry on, it will probably be tossed before/as you go through security. You may want a copy of your nursing license with you. Check with Germany and find out what they will allow you to do, if anything is needed. Do the parents sign a release form giving you permission to seek medical attention beyond your scope? If not, ask that they do so. Some places won't let you seek care for minors without parental permission. And, check with the U.S. Consulate/Embassy about what they recommend. Also, will you be responsible for the kids' meds if they have any they take routinely, or will they? If you are responsible, check with TSA and the customs of the airport(s) in Europe and Germany that you enter and exit from. What do they require that identifies you as a one who is responsible. Have fun & remember---keeping up with teens can sometimes feel like herding cats.....
