This is insulting. Its for a medical assistant, not a nurse. But still?!?! I'm 30, but wow this feels like an insult!
Edit: Please edit title to sound better...oops.

I know I have a better work ethic than that and the age part makes me think he wants something besides a medical assistant.

This ad has got to be illegal; they should be turned in to the EECO. (How does it differ from an ad specifying, for instance, "Whites only"?)
In Europe, some 30 years ago, ads like this were common - typically, job ads for office positions, such as secretary (I wasn't looking at nursing ads at the time) specified that the applicants needed to be "under 40 years old". Shame on them - fortunately, this blatant discrimination is no longer allowed.

That is illegal. It's age discrimination.
In one way it is, and in another it isn't. The EEOC only protects those OVER 40 from being discriminated against for being "too old." If you're under 40, you're out of luck. So in this instance those between 35 and 40 would not be protected. Anyone over 40 could legitimately sue. Oh, and there's no age discrimination law protecting people from being dismissed as "too young" for a given position.
On the other hand, it is illegal to ask candidates their age, except to ask if you are over the age of 18 (or 21, in some alcohol-licensed establishments).

Always a loophole for the employers. Doesn't seem like its the same for employees.
Biblepoet, I think you may be right. Maybe they want a 2 for 1 deal. Thats disturbing. But I'm sure it happens.

Thebusynurse, thanks for posting the questionable ad. I think Biblepoet read between the lines correctly. Yes, is disturbing. Wonder if that's why it was flagged for removal. SDALPN, appreciate that you were concerned enough to say something. Thanks!

No reputable employer would use a smutty site like craigslist to advertise job openings.
Anyone who is lame enough to peruse those sites looking for jobs deserve whatever crap they have coming.
I know of a few reputable employers in my area (Kansas City, MO) who advertise on craigslist. I imagine people seeking work and maybe not finding it through more traditional routes just might read craigslist in hopes of work. I don't think they are lame, just not necessarily sure where else to turn. We're living in hard times.

I do wonder if that depends on the area sometimes. There are a few decent employers around here (not medical field that I've seen) that post on there. A lot of the non profits from around here post on there too.
I see lots from Maxim (which most have heard of those horror stories) and other agencies in the area that have the same rep.
But why don't those employers use monster.ca, workopolis.com, government affiliated job banks or any other dedicated job search site? Because those sites charge a nominal fee but any yahoo can post on craigslist for free. If the employer doesn't want to invest a few dollars to ensure quality personnel, then it's not a place I want to work for anyway.
THe same people that can look for jobs on craigslist can look for jobs on other sites just as easily. I tend to look on many sites because there are so many options for employers to choose. I have seen reputable companies post on craigslist. Just in my area it doesn't seem to be in healthcare.

Not necessarily. I got my first nursing job and my flu clinic job (Mollen) through Craigslist.
