My Dear Betts, please tell me this happened in a dream, even though through my own experience, I have been very close to this situation many times, in reality If this is a true experience then my heart goes out to you as well as my prayers for your complete recovery from this horrendous experience. I love reading your posts and quite frankly do not respond to most of them because you have already said what I would have, only with far more eloquence than I have ever been able to muster. My thoughts and prayers are with you.:blushkiss

    Update from phone call...
The Caregiver that was led out of this facility in handcuffs and charged with battery by the unit manager has brought suit against them.

Betts, I am sooo sorry this happened to you. I will do whatever I can to help!!!
You are a wonderful nurse and a true treasure to our profession. Keep fighting!!!!!

I can imagine how a 'Diamond in the Rough Feels'...(regaining repartee), but it's not a funny situation as my nursing record is being 'Soiled' by what they're saying to others. The Corporation allowing this is reprehensible!
As I've stated; any and all offers of emailing, writing snail,or calling whomever, is appreciated.

    Betts,

sometimes micro way too flippant and out......

back and rereading some threads back to start.....

your nursing career will continue and strong as ever...........

it is a sad state of affairs what the "corporate" environment is doing to health care...........and the docs, nurses, and other departments that work under them.........

from silence to voice.........it is my next serious, no escapism read

    Betts,
You are not alone. You keep on being the great nurse and person that you are. Always take time for yourself. And keep on giving a dang' cause if you and "we" don't who will.

Today I smiled, and all at once things didn't look so bad.

Today I shared with someone else, a bit of hope I had.

Today I sang a little song, And felt my heart grow light,

And walked a happy little mile, with not a cloud in sight.

Today I worked with what I had, and longed for nothing more, And what had seemed like only weeds, were flowers at my door.

Today I loved a little more, and complained a little less,
And in the giving of myself, I forgot my weariness.

I am writing to convey to you the results of the latest investigation in response to your complaint allegations against the above-referenced facility.
From April6-9,2002, a medical facility inspector conducted an investigation of your complaint allegations. The inspector interviewed appropriate members of the facility's administrative and nursing staff. The inspector also carefully reviewed the medical records of ____________. In addition, the inspector observed the care being provided to other residents relating to your complaint allegations.
The inspector was unable to find sufficient evidence to conclude that a regulatory deficiency related to your complaint allegations occurred. However, during the investigation the inspector did find other regulatory violations. The facility received a regulatory citation and was required to submit an acceptable Plan of Correction. I can certainly sympathize with the anxiety your concerns regarding your sister's care has caused you.
This determination does not minimize the importance of your expressed concerns, nor does it imply that your concerns are not valid. The findings simply reflect the regulatory and evidentiary boundaries within which this office must investigate all complaints.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. I want to assure you that the Center will continue to conduct periodic unannounced inspections of the facility to assess the facility's compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Please feel free to contact this office again should the need arise. I may be reached at (804) 367-2122,should you have any questions.
    Sincerely, Linda Wilhelm, Supervisor/Complaint Unit

I have a lot of questions:
    1) I was on 'Indefinite Suspension' from the 6th-9th with no-call from you.
    2) I was Terminated over the phone on the 9th.
    3) The 'Peer Review' was May 2nd.
    4) You spoke with the 'Appropriate Administration'? Their was only the Administrator since April 6th.
    5) Interviewed appropriate staff? I was the 11p-7a Supervisor and the witnesses quit or were terminated. Did you try to contact them at home?
    6) Unable to Find? UMMMMMM; Ever heard of a 'Cover-up' or Falsification of Records? No, not them...
    7) A regulatory citation? I checked the tags given and 13 were listed; curious
    8) Sister? Who's sister? I have a sister in Brookville,Indiana and another in London,Kentucky with none I'm aware of here in Virginia. Yep, just the three of us.
    9) Why didn't you ask me(call) for certified copies of the witnesses statements?
    10) How long do you think it takes to fix a door?

    Calling in the am.....

Maybe sending the story, as you have written it here, in your own words, along with the replies of people here, who approved their imput, of course, to shows OTHER than 20/20 with the disinterested 20/20 email attached, might get the attention of another show who could work the story line from the angle of the actual horrific event, to the paltry care of the resident in question, to this being a WONDERFUL example of why people are hesitant to go into nursing, might get a rise out of someone.....That, along with, if it is available, some imput from the family of the resident in question, might raise a few eyebrows....Think about a letter to Gloria Alyred (sp)...Something to PEOPLE magazine.....Mention to whoever you may send something to, that you have attempted to get the story out, not only for what happened to you but also, travesty that it is, what this facility was willing to sacrifice in the way of human suffering and life AND money from the taxpayers with regard to the 911 comment...Might want to throw in your comment that the door in question was somehow more important than an actual person and that is a sad comment on the viewpoint in some healthcare arenas these days, specifically the one YOU are speaking about......Many ways to go about coloring the tone of this horrible and unfair treatment both of patient AND nurse. You are to be applauded for doing the right thing. What a wonderful nurse you are! My former comments coming from a writers point of view, by the way....Good luck and many hugs...
