I am a pre nursing student at Brrokdale Community College and I want to take a pca program to get experience in the nursing field. The problem is that the class costs $1985 plus tote, text, and prerequisites. I dont think I need any prerequisites but I am low on funds and really want to take this class, but i need help paying for it. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE GIVE ME IDEAS ON HOW I CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN....Thanx in Advance!

Have you contacted the financial aid office at the school?

$2,000 for a Personal Care Attendant program?

That's a lot of money for a PCA program.

Did you think about becoming a CNA and work for a hospital? The hospital can help pay for your education and train you.

That does seem like an EXCESSIVE amount for a PCA class, I wouldnt pay it. Id call around so some nursing homes and see if any of them offer free CNA classes with employment there. Hospitals too. Or at the very least, Ive seen CNA classes for just a few hundred when compared to the PCA tutition.

I am in California, and the CNA programs here are approximately $1500 if you don't do it at a community college (which has a super long waitlist). I have wanted to do a CNA program while taking my pre-requisites for nursing, but cost has played a big factor in my decision to not do this yet. I know how you feel. I would say to try to see if a junior college in your area has the program, and do it through there since junior colleges have financial aid.

OMG, that is a lot of money for a PCA! How can they justify the cost of that?
