I need to vent somewhere to someone. .ugh! Im a lpn working for a agency private duty nursing, I do home care. I love my patients but I hate the agency they dock your pay for any little reason. If u call out and dont provide a note And if you do provide a note they tell u they have to aprove it. If they dont think its worthy they take $100 out your pay! If nothing else motivates me to get my RN this will! Tears im just so fed up!!!!

Yikes! You need to find another agency/job. They shouldn't be able to hold your pay like that. I'm sorry. That's one of the many reasons I left PDN. I hope you find a better job!

Thanks I look everyday. :(

Are they not paying you/docking your pay for the day you take off or reducing your pay for the hours you actually worked? Either way, this sounds controlling and wrong.

Some questions

-Were those the terms of agreement?

-Do you avoid situations that put you there?

-Have you spoken to the people involved about it?-

Have you asked your trusted colleagues their views and opinions?

P.s- You don't hate your job;you hate your employers!

Docking pay for work already done? If salary or hourly I believe it may be illegal to dock your pay.

I believe what they are doing is illegal as well. Docking nurses $100 for a call out. I work for myself.

Find another agency.

Based on how you explained the situation in your post, I would check with your local Labor Board as to the legality of them docking your pay for calling out. In my state, home health agencies regularly withhold pay pending receipt of your documentation, or receiving your documentation before the cutoff date/time. I found out from my Labor Board that this is illegal. What you are describing sounds even more illegal on its surface. I would certainly look into it. At any rate look for a better employer. Best wishes.

Most home health do refuse to pay if documentation is not in on time since they don't get paid for billing in time. But docking pay for calling in seems truly illegal.

If you work for yourself, who is docking your pay?

Are you a full-time, benefits eligible employee? If you are hourly paid and you don't have paid time off, you won't be paid for the shift that you called out for.

I work for myself my agency is docking pay I know I wont get paid for the 8hrs I didnt do but their taking a extra $200 for themselves when u call out withput a doctors note.
