I was scheduled to take my ACLS class today but I didn't go because I can't stop throwing up...not sure if it is because I am sooo anxious or if it is because I am expecting, but I just feel bad that they paid for my spot and I couldn't go today...my DON will be upset, i dunno what he's going to say... :(

I agree she should have sucked it up and went. But, asking what are you going to do when the real thing happens is just going to make a nervous person even more nervous and intimidated.

I'd rather her get over that now than trying to deal with it when I or a loved one codes.

If you'd like to be the guinea pig though... ;)

Also, ACLS teaches you what to do when the real thing happens. Hopefully she'll realize that having the knowledge will help her when the real thing does happen.

It's the whole insight thing. Spelling it out doesn't help as much as the person coming to the answer on their own.

Here is the simple fact. Nursing is scary. The only way to begin to reduce the pressure a bit is to learn as much as you can.

Am I the only one who thinks ACLS is fun?

I got certified in ACLS and PALS in one of my classes in Nursing School (as a requirement to pass the class.) I was nervous too...but I got over it and did just fine. But I was never nervous enough to throw up though (its not that serious to me)... hope you are doing better!

I enjoyed ACLS. I was 26 weeks the first time I took it I think. They wouldn't even let me fake-defibrillate anyone in case there was still some juice left. They weren't out to get me during the megacode... I know my stuff, but i have MAJOR stage fright. But i did fine.

If you are throwing up, you can't go. But please, don't make ACLS be the reason for throwing up. Nothing to freak out about.

I meant to say 26 weeks pregnant.
