How to stall a job offer

Hello,

I went on a interview last week for a job and received a call this AM that they would like to hire me and are currently checking references. The recruiter states I should hear something back by the end of this week.

Yesterday, I received an email from another hospital I applied ( the place I'd rather work) and the recruiter wants to interview me next week but we have not confirmed any dates.

My question is: How do I delay a job offer while I have another interview pending? I'm sure they are interviewing other people, in a perfect world I'll be able to give them a decision in two weeks.

I'm technically a new grad ( 11 months nursing exp. 3 months LTC, 8 months ICU) and I'm just blessed to have been able to get two interviews with less than one year of experience in a specialty. I really don't want to blow this.

Advice?

Tell the people who want to schedule an interview next week that you have an offer on the table elsewhere but are very interested in talking to them and see if you can move up the interview date.

Thanks. I tried calling the Nurse recruiter today to bump up the interview but she is off today. I have to try again tomorrow.
