How should I dress when I pick up applications?

I ordered these pants:

including the shirt, suit and tie combo. I know I shouldn't wear the coat because it would be too much.

Is that how I should dress? If not please point me to the right direction. This is for a first time lvn job.

YOU should dress professional....yes include the coat.

This is the exact suit and tie combo: 1334674205.1226294980.additional.01.original.jpg

I thought it was too much but I would rather be over dressed than under dressed. This is just to walk in and say I would like to apply for a job.

Should I get an additional suit in a different color so that I don't wear the exact same thing if I ever get called for an interview?

You can still walk in and pick up applications? I thought computers had totally taken over the application process!

I think simple dress shirt and slack is adequate. Suits with tie and dress pants are over kill. IMO

I think you look professional. I don't think you need 2 suits but it you are self conscious....get a different tie and color shirt. I am always impressed when someone dresses to exceed the expectations when I interview.

Double check before you go to pick up applications though...many places do internet applications only.

Good Luck!

Overkill. If you do in fact have to fill out paper applications, avoid jeans and t-shirts and you will be fine. I suggest khaki pants and a polo or sweater. Save the suit and tie for interviews.

Don't wear that to pick up applications IMHO. Wear that for an interview. If you're just stopping by to pick up an app, wear business casual. Something like dockers and a polo or sweater. As for being overdressed for an interview, I always was and I got complimented every time. I definitely think my power suit got me my first nursing job (it certainly wasn't my answers because I remember nervously stammering the whole time). Good luck!

Do you know which websites I can use to apply for LVN jobs? I am new to this. I have always been a self employed web designer.

Check the website for the facilities to which you want to apply. Almost all of them will have a "jobs" link which will post available jobs.

If there's a facility without a website, then you can call and ask if they are taking applications.

And holy crap, but those are expensive pants! :wideyed: Any pair of khakis/slacks from any discount or mall store would be fine. Just make sure your underwear, butt-crack, and socks don't show and you'll be a-okay!
