On a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 meaning you absolutely love your job, how much do you enjoy nursing?

Hey GottaGetIn--I feel the exact same way you do! I'm starting nursing school in the fall and threads like these really scare me!

I love being a nurse. I don't love being a unit secretary, receptionist, medical records tech, waitress, babysitter, public relations person, housekeeper, or all of the other jobs that seem to fall on nurses these days. It seems that if there is a job that no one wants to do, it goes to nurses. I went into nursing to be the best nurse and give the best patient care I am able to, but all of the other "necessary duties" really get in the way. *sigh*

most days 4-5....a good list on a good noc 8. The acuity is crazy so a "good" list is few and far between.

I love being a nurse so 10 on that.....I hate working nights that gets a 1. If I ever get back on days it will be a 10.
:yeahthat:
Hate, hate, HATE nights with a passion. (Did I mention I hate nights?)

8 to 10 0n my current job, if it falls below a 7 on a regular basis I change jobs. Been a nurse for 15 years and usually love what I am doing. 7 full time positions so far and 6 casuals during my career. I have worked med-surg, ICU, CCU, neuro, trauma, telemetry, agency critical care, ER, PHRN specialty flight team, RN/paramedic air ambulance, county mental health clinic, critical care travel, geriatrics, dementia and private duty.

When I graduated from nursing school I went to a med/surg floor =1. I hated that job, would cry on the way to work sometime. It was just overwhelming. responsibility that a nurse has was just too much for me.
Went to Endoscopy = Other than the nasty docs, and how far it was from my home, I'd give it a 7.
Now I'm a Diabetes Educator (working on certification) and I'd give it a 9.
I still go back to that med/surg floor two fridays per month, but it's much easier to take now. Still don't like to go, but love the extra moolah.
