I recently had a drug screen come back positive for Benzo's. I have script for Ativan that I occasionally take to help me go back to sleep I the early hours of the morning. One night iinadvertently took my Spouses Valium rather than my Ativan. I have been told I am no longer able to take the job I was being tested for and that my Nursing board ,Colorado , would be informed. What can I expect to happen? I am concerned as to what may happen due to my error

Both drugs will are benzodiazapines.... so what is the problem?

That's exactly what i am thinking. Show them your script, there should be no problem......

Of course your urine screen was positive for benzodiazepines if you took valium or ativan but I don't see what the problem is. You have a valid prescription for ativan and a urine screen will be positive for "benzodiazepines". Valium and ativan will give the same result in a urine drug screen, there's no reason for anyone to know that you accidentally took your spouse's valium as opposed to your own ativan.

Although both are Benzo's they produce different metabolites and the Dr was able to determine that it was DiazepamAs I don't have a Diazepam script that is why there is an issue
