Flu Clinic Work

Nurses Career Support

Published

I am potentially going to start working at a flu clinic in the next few months. I have never worked in this type of setting and was just wondering what to expect. Will I be working alone or with another nurse? Did you feel you always had the supplies that you needed? Was the job overly stressful? Any insight on what I should expect would be great! Thank you.

Your responsibilities in the flu clinic will depend on your employer.

I have worked clinics alone ,and with another nurse. I've had to pick up and refrigerate the vaccine, handle the payments, and the teaching involved. Many settings, such as colleges, Costco's, employers.

Wherever,it's a piece of cake..... enjoy!

I love working the flu clinic! Usually at our flu clinic for the public we have 2 nurses and 1 receptionist to take care of payments. We are responsible for making sure we get all the supplies from purchasing etc.. It is a nice layed

back but busy environment and a bit of a change of pace.

Is this the time of year that flu clinic positions start to become available?

I don't work in or for a flu clinic but I'm trying to get one organized in my brother's memory... Not having much luck in finding private companies that do on site clinics in La Crosse WI....

I applied for Passport Health to work in their flu clinics and I just finished the on-line training. Has anyone heard of them? Also, what are some other flu clinic names that are hiring? Thanks!

Specializes in Oncology.

I always do overtime in a flu clinic at work. It's a piece of cake. The only thing I have to do were the shots themselves. It was literally jab and go. I give around 150 shots in 7 hours.

PraiseGod - try Occuvax. According to their site they pay $27/hr, and hire both LPN and RN.

I am wondering how much Passport Health pays, do you know?

Undone, I just finished applying for Occuvax and in the contract it say $25 per hour for both LPN & RN. Passport health pays $25 per hour as well. Are you planning on applying?

Also, Passport Health will start sending out the schedule in early August. I think Occuvax starts in September.

Undone- the hourly rate for Occuvax depends on what state your in. I'm in FL.

Thank you, PraiseGod. I am in NY, so I guess there is a difference of about $2 for the different state for Occuvax, the other is probably about the same.

I think I will apply. I already own blue scrubs :D
