Planning to move to Fayetteville, NC. Any advice noce places to work - bad places to work? Pay scale? Pt workload? How are the ICU's? If I stayed where I am now I would love to work ICU, but I know not all ICU's are created equally.

You may want to try Cape Fear Valley Health Sytem...includes Cape Fear Valley Hospital and Highsmith-Rainey...

Positions are posted on the web site ...

Pay scale is OK. Not sure of workload... a close friend works there and has really been impressed so far !!!!!!!!!

Best wishes.

Heard cape fear is a good place too. Don't know much about the ICUs specifically, as I'm an OB nurse. But haven't heard anything BAD about cape fear. There's actually a nurse on this board who works in Fayet. right now...don't know her username or 'real' name, as I've only chatted w/her. Maybe she'll see this....

Good luck! :)

Specializes in Psych, hospice, family practice.

Hi nina,

By any chance are you in a military family? The reason I ask, is because my husband is Air Force and stationed at Ft.Bragg/Pope AFB. We currently live about an hour from there, but are planning to move closer once schools out for summer. I'm looking for work in the Fayetteville area as well. Sounds like we have different specialties (mine is psych), but good to know we've got more nurses coming to NC. Email me if you like. I can maybe put you on to some good leads re what you're looking for. The jobs are there, that's for sure. Take care.

Mary

Hello NC nurses!

Specializes in jack of all trades, master of none.

I was born at Fort Bragg, Womack Hosp. My mom said the nurses were very strict. But, alot changes in 31 years :)

Sure is pretty around Fayetville. Sorry, I can't give ya the info you need.

There's also Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital...and the VA...and several free standing surgical clinics...also a top-knotch re-hab center (Part of Cape Fear Valley system)...and a psych unit, also part of CVHS...wish I knew more about the pay scale...I will tell you this...CFV is having a recruitment special...they want to hire 100 nurses in 100 days...will see if I can find out info regarding pay for you... and if you like, will PM you with a couple of places to stay completely away from...not in Fayettevile, but within driving distance...great pay...crappy situations.

Ciao...

I will be graduating next year and we are going to be moving to Fayetteville, NC. If anyone knows of a great place to live and some great schools could you please let me know. Cape Fear Valley sent me alot of info about internships which ususally start in July and August. They have a Critical Care and NICU and Pediatrics in case anyone wanted to know.

Thanks,

Melissa

Goldenearring and Ninaldunn, y'all should both talk to Mary Dover. She's the nurse who has the inside track on Fayet.. :)That's the lady I was thinking of!

I live about an hour from Fayetteville, and I've also heard good things about Cape Fear. I just moved to this area of NC last summer, so I'm not too familiar with all the hospitals around here. I'm in school and we do our clinicals at First Health. It's a very nice hospital, and the staff I've met are great. It would be about 45 min to an hour from Fayetteville. I know that for new grads the starting pay is $16.43/hr, before the weekend and night shift differentials. I'm sure it's more for experienced nurses.

Feel free to email or PM if you have any questions, I'd be happy to try to help.

I dont know if you like military hospitals. Try Womack army hospital!
