Does YOUR licensing body give out your address?

A friend wanted to check on the status of her Florida RN license and discovered that the address she last had while licensed in that state is listed (fortunately she no longer lives there and the address was clear across the country).

What a cool feature for stalkers!

Even if you only know the first name, there's a wild-card search feature so that you can find, say, every "Emily" in the state, then just pick the one in the right town...

This database is downright dangerous!!! :(

P.S. It's a good idea to check your state for your records:- we also found that a duplicate license was issued for a co-worker who says she has never requested one.

Nebraska is the same way...they even used to publish National Registry (EMT) test scores! Per Nebraska law, people have the right to know about the people who are caring for them...disciplinary action, criminal background, test scores, etc. I personally think that if they know my first name and my title, that's enough! Someone is going to get hurt someday because the state thinks the public has the right to know so much about me!

Yeah, there was another thread on this subject a while back. I said at that time I feared a stalker could use the information to find someone who was trying to avoid being found.

Interestingly enough, Attorneys & Teachers don't have their addresses available through our state website, either. No fair! What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander! I think that we might want to mention this safety issue to our state boards of nursing.

After all, we do take care of & deal with some unsavory characters in our line of work. I like SC's idea...provide the city name, but not street address info. It would still keep us vulnerable to ex-significant others, but it would at least be a step in the right direction!

That does it, I am not only getting a PO Box, but I am also changing my name to something like Jane Doe or Jennifer Smith.

I'm in Colorado and our license says our name and city. No address- thank god, how stupid is that?

California lists name, license number, status, county, and dates of original licensure & current expiration.

Those of you in states that list addresses should work to get it changed!

Yep, mine does.. street addresse and all. Interesting.....:stone

Mine actually shows my street addres rather than my mailaing address (PO box). I think patients have the right to know my name and title, but that is it! What business is it of anyone else where I live, how long I've been a nurse, what state my license originated in etc?
