About once a month. We call in a report anytime a child has suspicious bruises or other injuries or the child relates that they have been struck with an object or hit in any manner other than a spanking. I've called about children who report that their parents have given them drugs or alcohol (usually adolescents, but not always). It is up to child protective services to investigate the family and decide if there is a case to pursue or not. I've never had to testify in court (knock wood). It used to upset me to have to do this, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Yes, a couple of times. Both involved a daughter and father. Had to go to court on one of them. Not a situation you want to be in but very necessary for them welfare of the children involved.

All the time - frequently. I too live in Illinois, near Peoria - work at the trauma center in ER. Frequent and unfortunate problem.

Yes 5 year old hyperactive child with fetal alcohol syndrome. His "mother" locked him in the carport closet every Sat and Sunday because he was "bad."
