.... or an interview at least. :) ive been looking for tech jobs since january, applied to probably around 50 and only got called for one interview (didnt get the job because of schedule descrepencies r/t school).

ive seen time and time again on here people's advice on landing interviews including calling hr/nurse manager/don etc.. but for some reason i never did. i felt like id be bothering them asking about a tech position and i also didnt have much of an idea of figuring out what the person's name was i needed to be talking to ..

luckily, a friend of mine (new grad), just started a job at this psych facility not far from me as an RN.. on a hunch i asked if they were hiring and who i should call if i was interested in a tech position.. she told me the DONs name, i just looked up the number via google, asked for her, left a message, and witin 15 minutes she called me back and scheduled an interview for tuesday. :yeah:

so seriously people, make the call, it works!

Congratulations on landing the job interview! :)

Congrats!!

Sometimes I wonder, with all of the online applications, if that's another way to weed out the people who won't make the effort to get their butts in gear, and actually DO something to get a job. OP- you showed that effort makes a difference. It's not all about hitting the "enter" key :)

As a DON myself, I have to say, as long as the caller is polite and not pushy this works great on me too. It shows lots of guts and initiative to just pick up the phone and call me. I always figure if they are not too intimidated to just pick up and call me and take a chance on how I may react then the chances are good they will never hesitate to call a Dr. or family and risk getting chewed out.

Good job OP. Hope you land the job!

Congrats!!

XTXRN: I love your screen name picture !! :yeah:

Congrats on the inteview! I'll have to keep this strategy in mind if I decide to leave my current position and look for work in a hosptial, etc.

Knowing managers and the DON really does help. Well okay, if not knowing them personally, just a phone call. Had better experience getting a job that way.
