brainless comments?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

My previous job was in a very busy physicians office. One day we were really busy, I was seeing patients as fast as my legs would take me. After completing a patient, and on my way to call back another, I yelled to the doctor "The next patient is in the room worked up and waiting for you." After realizing what an incrediably stupid thing I said, I thought maybe "The next patient is completed and is waiting for the doctor."

would have been more appropriate. Anyone else ever made a complete fool of themselves?

Lorrie -- you're worrying too much about what you refer to as a "brainless comment." Reread your post -- it's a funny quote, although never a great idea to yell to the doctor (where other patients can hear) -- especially using a patient's name. Lorrie --When it comes to brainless comments, who do you think make them more: nurses or doctors? I'm pretty certain of what the concensus would be on this board!!!! Relax -- everyone, especially when busy, say comments which may be taken out of context -- we're human -- doesn't mean we aren't professional nurses.

the term brainless comment was not at all intended to be a derogatory comment towards myself. It was intended to be funny. looks like it didn't go over well. but thanks for the reply anyways, and so far as brainless comments, I think you are right doctors probably take the cake.

Lorrie,

Your comments made regarding your posting to the nurse trying to be supportive were a tad bit abrasive. I did not find the story humorous either... perhaps you should have placed your story under "Nursing Humor" as opposed to "General Nursing Discussion". In the future, I hope you would take a nicer and less critical tone when addressing a colleague trying to be supportive, even in error.

confused.gifMan what struck a nerve with you? This is not a forum to take out aggression and undeserved verbal hostility on others. Man go away. I had a great story to post but for some reason I am a little uncomfortable posting with NurseMark on the lose.

I thought Lorie's story was rather cute.

A doctor who saw the patient in the ER wrote in the progress notes,"Admit to CCU. The examination will be completed when the patient is on the FLOOR".

The patient (Who had received MSo4) read the note while being transferred. On arrival in the CCU laughed as he asked the MD, "Do you want me to lie on the floor for my exam?"

Nurse mark did you get out of the bed the wrong side today. A bit touchy are we. I think you need to go back to bed to chill for a while.

just to lighten up the mood a bit on this post, I thought I would share another humerous Dr order. The order read hold ASS supository this PM...he meant to write ASA by the way. All the nurses got a kick out of that one!!

I am a different Lorrie than the original poster, but nurse Mark I am glad I don;t know ya!!!!!!!!!! Who made you editor of what topic goes where? I agree go back to bed and wake up on the nice side of life!!!

I think we all need to lighten up and see a little humor in everything rather than beating each other up so much. If we need to correct one of our colleagues on a post, can't we do it tactfully? Come on, you guys - life's too short to be so negative!

I will try to lighten things up. Yes, I know this should be in "Nursing Humor" but here goes:

Man went to the doctor with a small cough.

Doctor says, "Take two big doses of castor oil."

Man says, "Doc, ya mean that will cure my cough?"

Doc says, "No, but it will make you afraid to."
