I know that it's a good idea to carry insurance just in case you get sued for something that happens at work. Where does everyone get their insurance? What are the best or worst companies to get your insurance from and what are the average rates you pay? Does your place of employment offer insurance for this sort of thing? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm starting my first nursing job soon and I want to make sure I'm protected in the event that something happens. No, I don't plan on making a mistake and getting sued, but no one ever does! Thanks for any info you have for me. I greatly appreciate it!!!

NSO Is my choice. $89.00 A year. $1M per occurance $3M aggregate. This might be able to be deducted on taxes if you itemize.
You will probably be covered for malpractice by your employer. ASK!
No matter what anyone else tells you, GET YOUR OWN COVERAGE.
If you are named in a suit do you want to chance that your employer won't sue you to recover their losses?

Good advice. Get your own. Your insurance will follow you wherever you go. I use NSO but there are many out there. Look in the journals, there are always pullouts (I call them maggets*) that allow you to send for information.

I got mine thru my homeowner's ins. co. It is a nationwide co. and offers various types of liability coverage.
Thanks everyone. I'll do some more research.
