AHHH nursing school???

Hello!

I was wondering if some of you could give me some advice on how to prepair for nursing school, and some advice on how to survive the first year. Thanks!

A good knowledge of anatomy and physiology, I find is helpful to have, along with ORGANIZATION and DISCIPLINE!!!

I don't think there is anything you can do to prepare yourself. Yes, you could review some anatomy and physiology, but I don't think it would help you that much. You have taken all of your pre-req's, passed them, and have done well enough to get admitted. That is enough preparation in my opinion.

Most students I know did nothing more than the pre-req's to prepare for nursing school. Nursing school is different than all of your other classes and it will consume a huge amount of your time. Thus, I recommend you enjoy your free time and perhaps work to save up some money.

first of all enjoy your last bit of free time before you start school!

Make sure to make the time to study and study hard. Nothing pays off like knowing your stuff. I had one quater where I was studying 7 days a week nearly every waking hour. It was rough but I got through it. Nursing school is tough but if you put in the effort you can do it.

You cant really do much to get ready other than enjoy your time now and feel proud you made the cut! Now time to get down to work, its very rewarding!

My advice is to not get freaked out at the beginning of each semester. In my experience, at the start of the semester, I'd go to all my new classes, go through the syllabus and hear about all the tests, projects, case studies, care plans, etc. that would be due throughout the term, and FREAK OUT. I had get myself to focus on one week at a time, looking at what would be due, and working on that. If I had everything under control, I could look ahead and work on future tasks, but otherwise, I took it week by week to save my sanity!

Amen to that! Pass your classes the FIRST time around! There are many students in my class who have had to repeat a class, or have been dismissed for failing 2 classes in one semester. I don't think these students are any less "smarter" than the rest of us (heck, they passed all of the pre-req's and maintained a high enough GPA to be admitted like everyone else), but I think it came down to motivation and time management.

Nursing school does require a lot of time toward studying, papers, projects, etc. I think those students who failed or had to repeat a class got lazy and tired of all the crap that goes along with nursing school, and they paid the price.

In The Beginning It Might Be Easy(just A Little). By The End Of The First Semester You Will Need A Break, But The Breaks In Nursing School Are Not Long Enough! It Will Be Tough.....and Nursing School Is Not Like Any Other Program. I Felt Like Giving Up A Few Times, But Please Dont Give Up. If You Fail A Test Dont Get Discouraged. Get Help Fast. Study In Study Groups So That You Can Get Input From The Other People In Your Class ( And You All Can Vent Too...like A Therapy Session, Lol). Make Sure You Eat Before Class And Clinical And Please Give Yourself Plenty Of Time To Get To School So You Don't Get In Trouble.

By The Time Your Into Your Last Semester You Will Finally Realize That You Have Learned And Grown So Much In The Field. Its Rewarding!
