The other day at my agency gig it was really slow and I was bored (ER) so I took the next ambulance to come in. Supposedly an unresponsive overdose. 4 staff nurses were sitting chatting at the nursing station and none of them got up and came in to help me get the patient checked in and settled.

Fortunately the tech and 2 paramedic students did come in and help. This happened 2 times on this day. Fortunately both patients woke up okay in the end and went home. And when everyone ordered out later in the day I bought the tech his dinner when he said he didn't have any money.

What a bunch of schmucks. At least I had a cool, smart, nice doc. and a great tech and students.

I have been going to this place as agency for 3 years. They seem to like me okay, but one crew still treats me like I don't exist. The other crew is much warmer and more helpful

God was watching out for me and my patients

Has nothing to do with being agency. Nurses are divided into those who good team players and those who fit into other categories.

That's pretty unbelievable. Maybe they thought you could handle it, maybe they are just lazy. I don't think there's room for people to do the lame clique thing when people's lives depend on you.

ER nurses are some of the most cliqueiness group I have ever seen. I appreciate their work and there are some ED nurse that I love to death, but honestly I have been down there if you aren't with a group sometimes you do all the work.

No, I dissagree...

This is simply not true. Obviously must be an exageration...

Groups are unavoidable when working day-in-and day-out with the same folks. However, any true Emergency nurse surely knows that a single individual does not ever do all of the work! All of the ED nurses I have met, they all seem to sincerly strive to prevent just that from happening. Teamwork is strong here.

It almost seems like it is just simply part of our blood make-up. A sort of DNA programming toward helping another counterpart. Be them from wherever. Help in the ED does not ever seem to be taken for granted.

That is what I have witnessed.
