ADN TO CNOR

  1. I'm thinking about becoming OR Nurse. Do I have to have BSN to be able to take the exam?

What's a CNOR? Are you currently an RN?

CNOR is the specialty certification for OR nurses- and it requires experience as an OR nurse before you are eligible to apply to take the exam. Whether you can work in the OR with an ADN is going to depend on the employer.

It's not required but it would certainly be a good step to take. I originally got my dialysis certification before I got my BSN but since I graduated I also got my CCRN too. It has placed me in the forefront any time I've ever applied for a job. I would do both.

Here's some info about the CNOR:

Ah, thank you. I kind of figured but wasn't sure with the way the OP worded the question with asking about the BSN.

Thank you for enlightening me. You learn something new every day. I didn't know they had their own cert in the OR.
