A little update on me...

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I've gotten multitude of email from those of you how are wandering about me in my absence from the boards, so I thought I would update everyone at once, and save time :) Sorry for the lack of personal responses! Your emails are wonderful, its great to know so many people are pulling for me! You are truely a special bunch!

Ok, on to the update

I graduated May 18th with my BSN, and started working in the Emergency Department May 28th (the day after labor day). Im trying to get my body adjusted to night shifts, and overall, its going pretty well, although I still start to get tired about 11pm or so, it usually wears off by 1am, and I am completely ok again. Its hard with Kevin working days (by the way, the got a promotion last week, and is now the bank manager, so he is working more hours as well), and we dont get to see each other much right now, but I am in hopes that once I get "into the groove" I wont want to sleep all day on my days off.

I work 6pm-6:30am for 3-4 nights a week. My first paycheck will be handed out Friday! That is fairly exciting, since I havent had a real paycheck in the whole 4 years I was in school, and I have NEVER made a salary like this before... it may not really be what a nurse is worth, but it sure beats my paychecks from Wal-Mart! :)

We are all moved into the new house now. I have been remodeling the kitchen, and in a day or two, the new carpet should be here, then it will be all finished. For those of you who have heard the horror stories dealing with my car (the 1993 Geo Metro-mostly-body-putty-POS-car), I finally got rid of it!! I ended up buying a new Pontiac Aztec (SUV-type thingy). The gas mileage isnt great, but I dont have far to drive for work, and it sure is nice to have that warranty! But, I am having a lot of trouble trying to master the concept of Cruise Control... ive never had it before.

I just got my ATT letter today, and I scheduled my NCLEX test for June 25th... but its at 5:30 PM! I am very hopeful that I get a short version of the test, since it is a 3 hour drive from home, and I have to work the next morning at 6am (training on day shift for a week). But, atleast then this will all be over, and I'll finally be an RN :) Then I can start working on ACLS and TNCC (both required by 6 months), its not too early to start working towards them!

Hmm... I can't think of anything else. Just wedding plans (which are taking forever), my new puppy (I finally got my Yorkie! - her name is Cricket), and n/v secondary to NCLEX jitters.

Thank you to everyone who has emailed me to check on me! I miss you guys, and I will be back as soon as life settles down again :)

Love,
