USF applicants 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Anyone applying to USF's (University of South Florida) nursing program?. I feel discouraged because I heard how competitive and rigorous it is.I have a 3.7 GPA. finished about half of my pre-reqs, got A's in all of my science courses. A B in statistics, ethics, and humanities:sarcastic:. I'm currently an ambassador at a community college and volunteering at a hospital. If those aren't good enough to get in the program I don't know what will lol. Is anyone here a USF nursing student? I would love to hear your experiences. I hope I can at least get into USF or my community college. If those fail..then it's off to or technical for me!!

@TwentyOnePilots they're right..you should start looking into other universities that are open in the spring. You can wait and always reapply !! I know you're so let down but you have to stay positive and enroll ..maybe USF is not the made path for you who knows ..but please stay positive and keep going. I know you'll make an awesome nurse whichever you may go whether the university route, the community college route, or the technical..keep positive there are doors open for you!!

Now I know most of us are signed up for the 17th since the 26th is full but we DEFINITELY need to meet up..maybe share a description of what we look like, are gonna wear, idk anything to locate all of us so we can talk..we can be our own little group ..I'd love to meet all of you :)!!

I'm down. I can't wait to meet you all :)

I'm from Miami and have no idea about the tampa area. Can anyone give me an idea of some good areas to live in tampa? I would really appreciate it! I wanted to check out the pointe at south florida apartments. It look like a fairly priced apartment, but maybe there's something cheaper or better.

Can't wait to meet you all!!

I was looking at the south point too and also look at the boardwalk apt. They are really nice and its 445 I believe. I'm actually going down there on the 26th to look at both of those apartments.

By next week I'm going to visit USF and ask about their housing options and what's best for me to have during the program..now for the background checks do we have to do that before or after match day ?

I think it's before. To be on the safe side I wanna get as much of that long list done before match day.

I think it said on one of the papers "please dont attempt to start this process until after match day"

It says it on the page that the link in our email send us to.... "You will be submitting the required information via CertifiedBackground.com and will receive college’s package code as well as detailed instructions at Match Day (July 19). Please do not attempt to begin this process before Match Day."

I must of over looked that! Thank you for posting that!

Congrats to everyone that was accepted to the USF College of Nursing. I see that some want to get started on gathering the required information for their background checks. As stated in other posts, do not start the process of submitting required documents until the date stated. However, you can start getting the required paperwork together so you do not have to scramble for it at the last minute. Proof of vaccinations is required for Clinicals and is submitted through Certified Background. You need to have documentation of the following up to date vaccinations

Tdap, MMR, Varicella (2 shots or a positive titers), Hep B (proof of vaccinations AND a positive titers, must at least be in process of getting the shots), and a recent TB test, they will give you info on the specific CPR requirements.

All of the vaccination and CPR requirements must be completed or you can NOT participate in clinicals... The titers can be drawn at your local health department, along with the TB skin test and it is usually cheaper there than the doctors office. I know that the papers can not be turned in yet; however, it will be one less thing that you have to get together before classes start.

Disclaimer, this were the vaccination requirements for Fall 2012. Please ensure that they are the same as the ones that you receive from USF.

Again, Congrats to all those that were accepted!
