Hi BH!

I think that is crap! (excuse my language) First off.... the website doesnt clarify any deadline dates. I spoke directly with Jude and he said we didnt have to do anything at all. If you read the webpage carefully, it says students were pre selected! and somewhere else I read, it is on a rolling basis. Some people were accepted in December! I just got my letter last week! I dont how all students got an equal chance to apply. And if only some were pre selected, then why announce it on the SONHS web page?? I am so frustrated because at this point, UM wants $500 to secure your clinical placement. However, because we alreayd have a bachelor, we are not eliglible for financial aid. (even though its full time and I never got one red cent in aid with my last bachelor) Then to ask for a summer loan, you need to be registered fro your classes.. Guess when UM registers you? During orientation but if your tuition is not paid for by Orientation, then you are out of luck! Am I the only person running into dead ends? I don't think I will attend Summer 1. and its a sorry realization. In all my research, everything seemed to make it so easy to get help for nursing school! Its harder to get aid than to get in!

You are right it is BS. I double checked today with Ms. Sanchez and she confirmed it. You would think they would consider the class as a whole. But with regards to financial aid you can get stafford loans for a second bachelors. The limit is $12,500.00 per year with a total of 23k. So the way I was explained summer is the 2008-2009 year and fall and spring are 2009-2010 so I would think you could get a total of 19k. anyways good luck and hope you still go.

sorry i just reread your post about financial aid. I guess you were referring to pell grants and such. good luck the same

Well I was not aware that I could qualify for stfford loan. You would think that this is something the reps in Financial Aid office would speak to you about.. The $23K would def help.

Did anyone send out their background to the American Databank and get it returned? I sent mine out on February 27 and it was reurned to me!!!! I sent it in the envelope that was sent with the info

I got a call from the American Databank last Friday that they received my fingerprints but they were smeared and the woman said the FBI would probably deny them. The most ridiculous part is that as I was getting my prints taken the police officer commented on my fingerprints... he said "wow you have terrible fingerprints, it would be hard to track you if you committed a crime!" I'm freaking out now because the American Databank needs to send me another fingerprint card and I need to find a day I can leave work early and get them done again, I've heard that it takes the FBI at least 3 weeks to check them!! I'm never going to make the April 15th deadline... ugh!

Yes I mailed it in the envelope they provided. I think once they process it they send it back to you and send the information to your school electronically at least that's how they explained it to me. Here is the number that I called to talk to someone 1-800-200-0853 I don't remember the woman's name but her ext was 122. Keep me posted.

FYI, i got a hold of someone from american databank yesterday and was told that they sent me an envelope with the old address on it and that is why it got returned. So, I had to resend it and put the new address on it. I hope this does not happen to anyone else!!! Check the address on the envelope before you send it.

What a pain in the butt! Luckily I got my new fingerprint card in the mail yesterday so I will be going back to the police dept today and hopefully they do a better job this time cuz the deadline is coming up soon!

OMG!!Guys...I am sooo nervous, and at the same time sooo excited about the program... i got into the Program starting in May..And if you dont keep ontop of things you would be screwed. I to have the financial aid problem, i still cannot find out how much in loans i am going to get for the summer, i called and spoke to approx. six people last week and finally received an email from Deborah paris that registration would be April 13th. So at lease then we would see how much money in loans we would actually receive for the summer and fall. I then had to call back to find out how am i suppose to register on the 13th. and was told that the nursing dept would registar me. It would be soo nice if they just sent one easy letter explaining everything to us..

NOT to Mention the Miller School of medicine scholarship..I received the Exact REJECTION letter approx. two weeks ago...you can imagine what a bumer that was..I have no idea how i am going to come up with summer tuition....I finally got someone in financial aid to tell me that i MIGHT be eligible for approx..$2500 subsidise...$2500 unsubsidize and another $1000 in summer loan...But it can only be determine after registration...So i am looking forward for APRIL 13th registration...

Also does anyone know what the Phamacolgy text is...so at lease we can start to read...The process definitly needs a lot of work..not to mention when your from out of state..trying to make this huge move..but yet still feel as if your enterin an unknow zone...

I wish everyone who got in good luck and i am looking forward to meeting all you guys..And definitly try to start in may...hopfully there wont be to many hurdles once we get their.
