UNF Accelerated BSN Summer 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Published

The deadline to apply for UNF's Accelerated BSN program beginning Spring 2013 will be here before we know it (January 15, 2013), which is why I wanted to go ahead and start this topic now. Many of us are taking the TEAS V soon (if we have not already) and finishing up prerequisites (if needed), so I am sure we all have some questions or information to share with each other.

TEAS score 368Prereq GPA 4.0Very nervous to hear about interview! Good luck everyone...here we go.

Wow everyone is so much higher than me and I thought I did well! 91% on TEAS and 3.81 GPA. So 715 points. We'll see!

I was accepted to Stony Brook in NY last week and I'm pretty sure their my number 1 but I've been dreaming about the sunshine on FL for months so it's hard for me to let go of UNF :/. I guess if I don't get an interview then that makes my decision easier!

BTW congrats everyone on your great scores!

Honeybadger - I know what you mean about being parnoid that you've not completed something on the checklist. I just reviewed the status letter and Beth's emails neither of which say that immunizations are due by the 15th. Rather the following is due:

1 - submission of all transcripts to OneStop - and confirming receipt by them

2 - submitting proof of enrollment (spring session) for any courses not shown on transcript

3 - submission of statement regarding any degrees expected - including term expected

4 - submission of TEAS V scores

5 - submission of supplemental application

Items 2 & 3 don't apply for me, but I bet I have looked at my wings transcripts section and my 2 emails from Beth that say "got it" about a dozen times. ;)

I have been looking around on MyWings and I don't see an immunization hold anywhere, and I have not submitted mine yet. Where exactly do you see this?

GoVeg - Congratulations on Stony Brook!!! That is awesome :)

So, if I am calculating properly by what you said your points for the TEAS V was 334(?) I read a document that said depending on the scores submitted the average TEAS V score invited for an interview was between 335 and 340 and the average TEAS V score for those accepted was the same as for those invited. So don't despare, average means some scores were higher and some lower. I would say you are right in the ball park. (I am a little confused though because your percentage is 91% which would equal about a 364 when totaling the four sections. If your score is 364 then you def. will get an invite, and your total points would be 745ish)

Also on some of the other blogs I've poured over I have discovered that once you are invited to the interview the TEAS V and GPA are not necessarily good indicators of who gets in. I found folks with scores as low as 702/3 that got in and some with scores around 757 +/- who did not. So, in other words, the interview is very important.

I'm thinking odds are you will get an invite - :)

Hey guys, I just took my TEAS V exam, here's my breakdown:

Reading - 90.5

Math - 90

Science - 89.6

English and Language - 96.7

Total = 366.8

Prereq GPA - 3.92 (once my nutrition and micro grades are evaluated)

Way to go jennyp29! Very good score at 759 - Awesome!!!!

TEAS score 368Prereq GPA 4.0Very nervous to hear about interview! Good luck everyone...here we go.

You did awesome too!!! 768 is very nice!

Just wondering is "aanda" an acronym for 5 kids?

I just found some interesting and helpful information on another blog from a student applying to the summer 2012 session. Her source is the Nursing Admissions page on Facebook from that time period. These are the admission stats for Summer 2012:

Accelerated track admissions offers:

27; 26 females, 1 male.

Avg Prereq GPA 3.76; max 4.0; min 3.30

Avg TEAS 356; max 392; min 330

Avg interview score 394 (out of 400)

Regular track admission offers:

45; 32 females; 13 males

Avg Prereq GPA 3.77; max 4.0; min 3.42

Avg TEAS 334; max 366; min 302

Avg interview score 393 (out of 400)

Waiting list offers: (good through start of classes)

31 ACPL and RPL mixed (rank not revealed)

Avg Prereq 3.77; max 4.0; min 3.39

Avg TEAS 326; max 367; min 287

Avg interview score 365 (out of 400)

Denials: 46

Avg Prereq GPA 3.74; max 4.0; min 3.34

Avg TEAS 323; max 370; min 276

Avg interview score 235 (out of 400; affected by outlier of "0" score)

I've been over those stats oh the Facebook page SO many times now! It's bordering just a little on obsession. I'm sitting on 761 points myself (3.85 prereq GPA) and...what's the clinical term? Freaking out? :p

And Julie, the immunization hold is under Student Services> Application Audit Summary. I can't imagine why, since they have my (Duval County public) high school records AND A.A. from FSCJ on file. Aren't immunization requirements for FL schools standardized? I swear I remember having to give the records to someone fairly recently. I remember at the information session they held, though, that Beth had said that titers would have to be done if you were admitted anyway. I would think that hold would prevent someone from registering, but not being considered for admission.

Ha ha! No, just two kids; Ashley (21) and Andrew (17). They're my biggest fans in this endeavor to finally get into the healthcare field.

Oops! Thanks for correcting my math! I don't know how that happened :/. That takes some of the pressure off. Looks like I'll be okay :)

Isn't it awesome to have your kids support you? I have 5 kids ranging from 23 down to 12 and likewise they are very supportive. They have been watching me study my tail off for some of the science classes and listening to me stress over the entrance exams application process. But since they think mom can do anything they think I am stressing for nothing. Ha! if that were only true - lol.

HoneybadgerDONTCARE - I must say I am just a little amused over your clinical status of "freaking out" in light of your "honeybadgerdontcare" ID - just too funny. That video went all over my office and a few people here have taken to it hard core. I laughed when I first saw you on here.

Let us put your position in perspective shall we :writing: Your TEAS and your GPA is higher than the average for the accelerated program. Now it is true that you might not get accepted to the program, but that is only if you totally bomb the interview. But your TEAS score is 6 points higher than the highest score of anyone that was denied entrance [based on the summer 2012 stats]. I think you are in a sweet position and you need to give yourself permission to go back to the honeybadgerdontcare status. I know pretty much all of us would like to have your TEAS score!!!
