UF Accelerated BSN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

HI:)

I am an undergraduate student at UCF right now and will soon be graduating with my degree in Psychology. I am applying to UF's accelerated BSN program for Fall 2012.

My first year of college was brutal! My first semester I made 4 Cs and 1 D. My second semester I made 2 Cs and 3 Fs. I had to retake the 3 classes I failed over the summer and I made 3 Cs. So... it has completely ruined my GPA. It seems like no matter how many As I make it barely brings it up.

But, thankfully UF only considers your most RECENT 60 credit hours towards your GPA. This is so great because my overall GPA is only a 2.6, but by the time I'm done taking classes my most recent 60 credit hours GPA will be around a 3.7-3.8.

Is anyone else suffering from a year of bad grades like me?

I wish every other school only considered your most recent 60 credit hours. UF seems like my only real hope to be accepted, but at the same time it's UF... not the easiest school to get into.

Can we assume that the UF nursing schedule will follow the UF general schedule? I'm not assuming i will be accepted, but I have some plans for the summer I need to make (my stepbrother is getting married,etc..)

I would assume the schedule is almost exactly the same. Start date and no class dates should be the same.

UF i s the last school I have to hear from for the summer. Since I haven't gotten in anywhere else I don't have high hopes, however since UF looks at my Masters degree I have a little.

I guess I just start the process over again. I just hate not knowing, and not having a plan set.

I can definitely relate samiam. I am currently a nanny for five kids and it was going to be hard to leave them anyway, but not telling them for sure until April feels almost cruel. Not to mention how they are going to find a new nanny in that amount of time. Also if I don't get in, so many other things might need to change as well. It is very hard not to have a plan when we are getting so close.

I want to email Ken and ask him to notify us when they mail letters. But I think he's heard from me enough these past few days. I just wish we were in the know a little more.....

I just emailed him to see if I could get an update because I have to tell UNF what I'm doing by the 26th at the latest. I'll let you know if I find anything out. I got an auto-reply that he's out of the office until 3/19. Sometimes he posts on this board tho, so maybe he can update us all soon :)

Hi all,

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one getting more anxious. I just found out today that I got accepted into USF's program. They want us to accept our spot by March 30. UF is my first choice program, but I'm worried about ending up with no seat anywhere.

Hey everyone! Well I called the office AGAIN today lol. Unfortunately I was told that they are not going to start looking at our applications until next week. So the lady told me that we will probably find out about mid-april. Hopefully this is not true... I really do not want to wait until then

Mid-April?? The program starts in May!

Yeah I know... The waiting game is not fun :uhoh3:

:( if I get in I still have to apply for loans to live on. - I dont think I can get them in less than a month right !?

Did you apply already through FAFSA? Does anyone know the costs for the first semester of the program?

Yep already did the fafsa but I'll need much more than they'll loan me to live on (I've got a two year old and an infant and will need daycare costs too)- the cost of the program is calculated as the general per-credit calculation.
