Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

One more question.. does anyone have their degree audit up on the UCF website yet? I e-mailed admissions and they said it took a while for it to be completed and that they still weren't finished with spring admissions yet. Just curious if anyone had theirs yet!

Thanks!! :)

Hello lexiucf,

To answer your question about background check... I only submitted the first background check that came with the instructions and the code when I requested ABSN application.

I also have heard about another certifiedbackground check that will take place later in the this whole process but from what I understand this will only happen to those who are provisionally accepted or placed in the waitpool, that is already after the interview process. The second screening will lost likely include drug screen and all the other goodies lol

The background check I have submitted so far is what I believe the initial screening which determines if you even qualify to be considered in the nursing program.

So for instance the report or result summary that you will receive from certifiedbackground.com will include patriot act screen(terrorist stuff), social security alert, residency history, sex offender index, healthcare fraud and abuse scan and employment verification.

This whole process is pretty neat. You'll read in the directions they sent to create a profile on certifiedbackground.com after you enter a package code that CON sent you in the email along with the pin for submitting your application.

Once you have your account with certified background.com and because you enter the code CON is automatically notified about everything that is input in your profile.

Certifiedbackground.com give you a neat list of items that were submitted and those that need your attention or are still to be fulfilled.

It's pretty easy to orient yourself on their website.

So long story short you don't send anything to CON, instead you're dealing with certifiedbackground.com and they deal with them.

You just need to make sure that you enter information correctly (I checked hundreds of times before I submitted anything lol) and as you create your profile the website will direct you to another third party company that will take care of finger prints. There you'll also input your info and schedule your fingerprint appointment, but eventually everything goes back to certifiedbackground.com and from what I believe they convey the rest to CON.

It will make sense when you go through this step-by-step.

One word of advise, CHECK THE INFO YOU INPUT based on which that will perform your background check and also when you enter employment info, I personally included the contact info for people to contact and they were able to confirm it right away. The reason I say this is because I have read on other ucf threads that people were waiting for this section to clear and it was freaking them out. So that's why I believe that in my case they were able to verify this information very quickly because of the quality of contact information I included in my profile.

Hope this lengthy response helps. Lol

@lexiucf

As far as degree audit goes, I understand you are not currently enrolled in any UCF courses?

I think I read before that you had recently moved to Orlando.

I don't really know how to answer this question. If you had your transcripts evaluated by UCF you should be able to view everything on degree

audit.

By the way, how did you end up doing on your TEAS? I remember you were studying for it a few months back.

I scored an 88%, I am happy with it but hope that its good enough to get me into the program! It says that an 88 is in the 98th national percentile, but UCF is competitive so I am hoping for the best! I took it at UCF and they said they would send over my score to the CON but I am nervous about just trusting them, so I am going to call to be certain!

Just sent in my application and received the e-mail you were talking about. Thank you!!!

I'm having trouble with getting my degree audit to show up as well. I called today and was told by undergrad admissions and registrars office that it may not show up until I'm officially accepted to UCF. I got in touch with Heather in advising at CON and she's looking into it for me since we should be able to see it. UCF has had my transcripts for almost a month now and I thought they would've been available. I was going to just manually calculate my GPA for the CON application since I have classes from two different undergrad institutions for my bachelors, but I'm worried if some of the classes I took for my previous major wouldn't transfer to UCF, etc. Still waiting to hear back, but I'm so anxious to get my application in.

@lexiucf

88% is great!! I got 86 and was told that I should be fine. From what I heard from other they look closely at your science prerequisites and overall GPA.

My scores are:

TEAS - 86%

Prerequisite GPA - 4.0

Cumulative GPA - 3.91

Also, I attended another information session a month and a half ago and the advisor repeatedly stressed on importance of the interview.

She said not to act like an ...a... hole , as believe it or not some people did!!

We have 2 months to prepare to for it and ace it. :)

If you hear from Heather, let me know! I'm going to call tomorrow as well. I was accepted into UCF and my transfer report is up, but no degree audit. I have read previous post about there being problems with it.

Those are amazing stats! Mine aren't quite as good:

Overall GPA: 3.76

Pre-Req GPA: 3.97

TEAS: 88

On the plus side, I would never act like an a-hole... I'm just nervous about being able to get words out of my mouth because of nerves!!

Hey everyone! I have a quick question. I was curious to know how you all can apply to both the Accelerated Program and the Regular BSN program if you already have a degree? I just requested an application for the acclerated program and in order to click on the regular BSN it says "if you do not have a degree"? Just wondering how you can do both.

Thanks!!

@Nursowiczka2b - Thanks for the heads up on the fingerprinting stuff, I am going to get on that stat... :)

Heather told me to just go ahead and use an estimated GPA (which I just calculated it on my own using my transcripts) and to put that in on the application. Once the degree audit is visible, she said they will update the GPA (if it needs to be changed).

Hey guys,

It has been great to periodically come onto your thread to hear what has been going on. I know how nervous/ excited we were when we applied last year and we didn't even have the added stressor of the interview! :-/ anyways, I just wanted to let you know that the previous poster is correct, you just need to put an estimated GPA on the CON application, trust me they will find your correct GPA. Additionally, we did not get our degree audit until two days before we got our acceptance notices so don't be too freaked out if they haven't appeared just yet. Let me know if you have any additional questions that I may be able to help you with. Good luck, I am pulling for you all!
