Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

I am 31, single, no pets, or no kids yet. :( Just me. Live near Sea World in the moment but fortunately my lease expires next month, trying to move back to the East Orlando area. Hope to sign a new lease somewhere nearby this week perhaps.

I ride a bike to UCF from time to time. It's ~ 18 miles round trip; I loved doing it until I got my elliptical machine plus car drivers in Orlando are NOT too friendly when you're on a bicycle. :( it was starting to get a little dangerous.

I'm 30, married, with a 3-year-old daughter and 2 dogs. I live in College Park area. (female)

I like riding my bike all over the place. My side of town is much much more bike friendly than east-side. I remember many near misses when I lived out there!

I have 2 sweet felines and a crazy puppy. :)

They're my kiddos

Hi to everyone;

I've been browsing through allnurses.com for months now, but this is my first time posting anything. Good Luck to everyone at the interview, I am so excited and can't wait to meet some of you. This thread has been so helpful at answering questions I've been having, so I wanted to also say thank you to everyone :)

To answer questions that have been asked:

My interview time is 10:30, since I am driving from the Disney area and I don't want to have to wake up too terribly early... Yay I-4 lol.

I'm 33, Married, no kids yet. My previous degree is in Art, which I actually obtained from UCF in '06.

I'm 23 (female), single, live in the Disney area, and have two bichon puppies.

Welcome! :)

We're a big happy family of future nurses on here!

We all gonna rock this interview ;)

Hi neighbor! (5 min from SeaWorld myself. :p)

Hey guys

Congrats to all going to the interview. I too have gotten invited to the interview. I am a married male with a boat load of kids (4), going back to school to get my nursing degree. I have an overall GPA of 3.71, with a 4.0 in my pre-req's and science. My TEAS V score was an 88, which is ok I guess, but when you delve deeper into that score, I scored 100% in the life and human body science sections and most of the math sections of the TEAS (yes basic grammar and such has always been a weakness of mine).

I am interviewing at the 10:30 slot, as I am coming from Hunter's Creek and hate fighting morning traffic. I will leave early, but won't worry about how slow others are driving and causing me some extra stress. I too will wear a suit as this is an interview and you must impress.

Good Luck to all

Al

Specializes in Mother Baby / NICU.

Someone on allnurses who just got into a BSN program they interviewed for posted this link on nursing school interviews on another thread. It looks incredibly helpful, so I wanted to share it with you all:

Yes!! I've used the STAR format when teaching people how to interview (that's part of my job now)

I'm going to have to get up early to make sure I have enough time to get prepped. The forum for the Brevard/Cocoa was useful since they were the UCF interview guinea pigs. Looks like basic questions were asked with one or two emotional/tough questions to measure a level of genuineness.
