SSC/UCF Concurrent ASN/BSN Fall 2015

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello Everyone!! I didn't see a thread on this yet so I thought I would start one. I applied yesterday for the UCF Basic BSN that starts in the Fall, but since the window for the concurrent program opens prior to acceptance letters going out, I will also be applying to the concurrent program! Here are my stats...

AA - Completed with Honors (MCL)

Overall GPA: 3.65

Prereq GPA: 4.0

TEAS Score: 85.3

Anyone else finishing up their prereq's or just waiting for the window to open?

Hey!

I will also be applying to the concurrent program once the window open in April. I have completed all my pre-reqs. I also completed my AA with honors, and have a BS degree from UCF.

Sounds like we have a great chance! I also applied to the UCF Basic BSN program with a fall 2015 start date. I actually prefer that program but don't want to put all my eggs in one basket :) Are you applying anywhere else?

I think with your stats you would definitely get in with SSC. UCF is so hard to tell, but I think your stats are competitive. My overall GPA is 3.34 and prereqe GPA is 3.5. I haven't taken the TEAS yet. I don't think my GPAs are competitive enough for UCF, but not putting all my eggs in one basket either  . I will be appying to SSC, VSC, and UCF basic regionals locations. I prefer SSC out of the three based on the NCLEX pass rate.

How do you find the NCLEX Pass Rate? I tried finding it and am not sure where to look! Maybe we will be in the same cohort ;)

UCF has their rate on the CON website. It is 98.06. I couldn't find SSC anywhere on their webpage. I want to say theirs is 98.5-98.75. So pretty close 😜

OK thanks :) I did every google search you can think of to find that! So both are above 98%, very reassuring! I am attending next week's information session even though I went to one in June, just because I know that there have been changes to the requirements! College Algebra is now required. I have it, but want to make sure there is nothing else new! I came across this:

***The changes in the general education courses include the addition of MAC1105 College Algebra and BSC1010C General Biology, and the deletion of HSC1531/SYG2000/STA2023. We realize that some students may have already taken some of these classes while others may not have taken them at the time of application submission. In order to transition to the new curriculum, the department will not penalize students who are missing the two new general education courses that will be required by the program for the Fall 2015 cohort. Students who do not have these courses at the time of admission will be required to complete them prior to graduating. We strongly recommend students consider taking the courses in the spring or summer terms prior to starting the core nursing courses. Students can work with Luisa Mejia, the Nursing Career Program Advisor, or Stephanie Reese, Career Program Advisor, to determine the best way to complete these missing courses.

The nursing program will also be adding a summer admit class starting in May 2016. This will allow Seminole State to admit nursing students three times each year (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Thank you for your attention to these changes. Please direct any specific questions about the revisions in curriculum and admissions to Luisa Mejia, Career Program Advisor—Nursing ([email protected] or 407-404-6006) or Stephanie Reese,

And.... did you notice that the application window is only 4 days long?!? The basic BSN at UCF has a 30 day application window and when I applied last semester for spring (Still had 3 prereq's in progress) it was open for 10 days! I just thought it was odd!

Yes! It's such a short application window period. It is pretty cool that they SSC is adding summer and shortening the the program by one semester.

I agree! I will let you know if I learn anything new at the info session next week. The Basic BSN is 4 semesters and prior to the change, the concurrent program was 7!

Hi guys,

I am applying to the UCF/SSC fall2015 concurrent program. I just recently was admitted into UCF and I got my AA DEC2014 with all my pre-reqs completed. I haven't taken my TEAS yet but will be soon. Do any of you who have taken the TEAs have any study tips?

Congrats :) I did take the TEAS and passed the first time with an 85.3 - I didn't feel like that was very good, but when the report printed, I scored in the 99th percentile for science and 96th percentile overall so I won't be taking it again. I don't think that it is possible to study the whole ATI study manual and feel confident so here is what I did. Purchase the ATI manual... Take 1 of the tests in the back. Go back and review areas I struggled in and studied for a week. Took the 2nd sample test in the back of the book and again went back and studied. Then I went online and purchased and took the two practice tests online as these are more like the actual test. I couldn't even hit 78% on the practice test but did just fine on the actual exam! I would definitely brush up on basic algebra, chemistry, anatomy and sentence and paragraph structure :) You will do just fine!
