U.S.A. Florida

Finishing pre reqs with Microbiology this semester. I will be applying for Fall 2012. I'm glad they changed the application process so I can apply after the semester is over. I'll have a 3.9 GPA so long as I get A's in Micro. I hope I can get in, its been a long journey to get here...

Soontobehope...yes, you need a copy of everything you scanned into Certified Profile. It has to be put into your portfolio binder labeled with tabs. Your instructor will check this portfolio every semester. As far as due dates for units, once your instructor has uploaded your course into ANGEL you can see your syllabus and when your units are due. I know first skills check off is proper handwashing, so print that one out for sure.

CMS1010...it's on the web, called C P R b u d d y . c o m. I believe that's what it is...

I'm gonna need a whole lotta ink to print that monster syllabus. Where are the due dates for each unit?

Do we really have to print out the whole syllabus? Can't we just reference it on our I-pad, or lap-top? I know we have to print out check-offs etc., but it seems a little crazy to print out all that at home. If it is the case, maybe I'll try kinkos or somewhere similar.

I don't think it is a requirement to print it out but I plan on organizing my notebooks using the syllabus for each unit.

Where has everyone been finding the best deals on textbooks for this semester? I've bought some from Amazon already.

I have a quick question for any student that has been accepted for the fall 2012 program. For the health application that we have to fill out, can we see just our regular family doctor? Or do we have to have different doctors fill out different parts of the form? Ive read that some schools require x-rays incase of a questionable tb test or they may require a pelvic exam. My family doctor takes forever to get an appointment with and she doesn't do pelvic exams, and I just went for a yearly pelvic exam but that doctor usually books appointments months ahead so I was just trying to figure out if I should book an appoinment for a pelvic exam/pap for mid november (planning on january start date). Thanks for the help and good luck!

My primary care Dr filled out everything on the form for me. The only reason you would need a chest X-ray is if either of your TB tests come back Positive. I wouldn't concern yourself with the pelvic exam since you just had one- The form asks if the Pelvic Exam was "normal" or "abnormal". If your Primary Care won't answer that particular question then you may have to have the other Dr answer it.

The main thing is to make sure you have your immunizations (or titers) done, Varicella titers, and 2 TB tests- check with your Dr on those dates.

They took my 1st MMR from 1979, 2nd from this year. Hep B series from 1996, Tetorifice booster will need to be within past 10 years.

Is anyone finding all white shoes anywhere?!?! Every pair I find has something not white! Even if it is just the logo is shaded in pink or gray.

It is very hard to find all white shoes, but if you have some light specks of grey they aren't that picky. I found all white Skechers last summer at the Skechers store in Clearwater mall. They actually have quite a few that are basically all white with a couple flecks of grey.

I searched all over too but finally found some all white shoes at Kmart for about $25.00..I figure if they don't last, they are only $25 so can buy another pair next semester!

Shoebuy.com has a sale going on with 20% off orders with free shipping, free returns and no sales tax. They have professional nursing shoes. I know that they are expensive but I purchases Timberland Nursing shoes priced $109 at all the uniform stores nearby for $83 at that site. They also sell Danskos and other brands of nursing shoes. I went to Uniform City and tried on shoes to see which ones I liked and find the right size. They are running low or out of most white nursing shoes but you can still try them in another color to see which ones fit the best.

Thanks guys! I finally found a pair! :)

Alright, I have another question :)

IS anyone getting the pelvic exam as part of their physical? I went to the Walgreens clinic for my physical and they don't do them (as i knew) but the woman marked it all out and wrote all over it! I haven't had a chance to contact the school yet, but I am curious what others are doing.
