SPC Nursing Fall 2012

Published

Finishing pre reqs with Microbiology this semester. I will be applying for Fall 2012. I'm glad they changed the application process so I can apply after the semester is over. I'll have a 3.9 GPA so long as I get A's in Micro. I hope I can get in, its been a long journey to get here...

We definitely should....I'll pm you my cell!

Awesome!

Have you gotten much done as far the requirements are concerned?

I'm so excited!

I have been chipping away at the requirements as quickly as possible! I just want all of those boxes on the Certified Profile to say "COMPLETE!"

I have become a regular patient at the Walgreens walk-in clinic this past month (TB tests, getting re-vaccinated for everything I was vaccinated for in the past (cheaper than getting the titer tests, and I'm sure all my past vaccines were 10+ years ago).

Do you understand why we can decline the Hep B vaccination/titer but we MUST have the Varicella Zoster titer test? It just seems silly to me, but I am sure there is a reason (?)

Can't wait for tomorrow!

All I have recieved thus far was my acceptance email with info on vaccinations, drug tests and background checks....Can someone tell if other info was sent out?

That's all that I have gotten, I'm sure we will get everything else we need during orientation.

See you there!

Which clinical sites did everyone pick?

I just checked MySPC....I ended up getting my 1st choice, which was Health South! :)

I got my first choice too! St. Anthony's.

Very cool!

I wasnt able to go to orientation yesterday and i was curious do we need to have the drug test completed and results in by the 20th? And is there anything else we need to complete very soon? Thanks!

I thought the background check, fingerprints and drug tests had to be done by the end of June. The vaccinations/titers/physical and some paperwork are supposed to be done by the 20th. I think you should call the school and get confirmation on the dates- don't forget they close early on Fridays.

I went to buy my uniforms today. They were completely out of the white polos in my size and had only two pairs of the bottoms I wanted. I was able to place an order for what I needed so I don't have to worry about this happening next time. I bought my bp cuff and penlight there as well.

I didn't buy my stethescope yet. I've heard Littmanns were the best but when I asked the lady helping me which ones she had available, she tried to push a MDF steth on me for $40. I just though it odd that she offered a less expensive steth. The MDF was louder but the sound quality was off. Anyway....after comparing the Littmann and MDF, I was totally confused. I'll do more research as I'm not sure exactley what I should be looking for in one to begin with.

The bookstore was out of the skill kit and I'm still confused on whether or not the syllabus is bought in the bookstore or found in Angel. The orientation paperwork said that it is located on Angel but the workshop email I received said that the syllabus can be bought in the bookstore. And guess what....the workshops are in the same timeslot as the ATI testing I scheduled....go figure!

I'm not sure what type of shoes to get or backpack....guess I'll research those as well. LOL.

Any tips or must-haves from other SPC students would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't receive an email about workshops. Can you tell me what it said? When did you sign up for the TEAS? I am going on the 1st in the am.
