Finishing pre reqs with Microbiology this semester. I will be applying for Fall 2012. I'm glad they changed the application process so I can apply after the semester is over. I'll have a 3.9 GPA so long as I get A's in Micro. I hope I can get in, its been a long journey to get here...
[color=#cc3399]hello everyone i am new to this thread but, has anyone heard anything about he alternates for the fall 2012 lpn to rn program? i was chosen as an alternate but can not seem to get any answers on what the process is or how many there were or anything. so any answer would help
As far as I know, the nursing dept. is hoping to let the alternates know by July 31st, although technically they can let you know right up until a week before classes begin. That's all I know. . I have no idea what the process is in terms of who gets in when, or how many alternates they choose. They used to let people know what 'number' they were on the alternate list, but they aren't doing that this time around. I am an alternate for the rn program. However, I do know that the lpn-transition is an entirely seperate class for the first semester. Good luck to you. I will be keeping my fingers crossed, and praying for you!
For those of you that ended up on the alternate list, I turned down my seat Friday in hopes that they could offer the seat to someone else in time for orientation. I also know of one other person that has also turned his seat down. So there are at least 2 seats that have opened up.
I know someone will ask so the reason I turned it down is that I was accepted to the USF Nursing program for Fall.

Congrats to you for getting into USF and to those who now have an opportunity to attend orientation in those places!

This doesn't make any sense? The median acceptance GPA was 3.88. How are you an alternate? I must be missing something. I am also an alternate, I have all courses complete and my AA, but I had 3 b's which brought my GPA to 3.7. I don't have really high hopes for being selected this go round, so I enrolled in PHCC lpn program and I will hopefully bridge over lpn-rn when I am finished. I was really dissapointed. I'm holding out a shred of hope that I somehow can get into the spc program so I won't have to go through the whole lpn and then rn bridge.
Also, you are a medic right? ARe you taking the paramedic to rn transition? Maybe you want to look into PHCC and HCC, Not sure if HCC has a transitional program but I know PHCC does. And, incidentally, PHCC has a a slightly higher nclex pass % than either SPC or HCC, so go figure. I think as ALavallee mentioned, you should see an advisor. I just think you should be in the program based on your stats. Are you missing a support course?
