SPC Lpn- RN nursing program questions

Hey everyone.

I was accepted into the Summer LPN-RN transition program at SPC. I start some time in May. I am waiting for orientation and having a hard time with the unknown.

I have done my finger prints, drug test, and back ground check. Passed

So I am wondering the first semester we take Nur 1060 and 1001, correct. Is it like typical SPC programs where we are able to pick the instructor? Or are you assigned to a class? As far as clinicals go how do they split the class up?

I have a good friend who applied and has not heard anything yet and we would like to take the class together (if she gets in). So I am just wondering how it works out.

Also are classes every day of the week or do we vote on the times we go or is it totally based on the instructor. I have younger children so trying to figure what to do with them while I am in class during the summer.

Thanks anyone for any tips and pointers! Also does anyone have a list of books? I would like to start reading ahead of the game.

Hey! Congrats on being accepted. Where did you go for your LPN? Was the transition hard? Whats the difference from going staright to the RN program instead of the LPN-RN? What steps did you take??? If you could please email me with this info or reply back. EMAIL: [email protected]

I might be able to offer some info, as I jsut graduated from the SPC RN program and had classmates who were in the LPN-RN transition program. Your first semester will be with all LPN's. If you're going over the summer you will have class 3 days a week and clinicals two days a week. The LPN transition program gets blended into the straight RN program in Level III (2nd semester of the LPN Transition Program) During the fall and spring semesters you have classes three days a week and clinicals two days a week so you'll have one weekend off from school. Don't buy every book on the book list as there are many you won't need. Another tip I can offer is by the previous editions.... Example currently the Pediatric Book is the 8th edition which is expensive. I got through the class just fine using the 7th edition which I was able to buy for like $12.00

If you don't mind me asking, What was your GPA and do you have to do the TEAS test there?

I did the LPN to RN program at SPC that started in May a few years back. Your first semester, you will be in a class with all LPNs, and you will be in class three days a week and clinical two. Class started at 8 am and we usually were out between 2-3p. On clinical days we were there by 6:30a and usually out by 2-2:30p. Now this may have changed since I was there because it has been a while. We did not get to pick where we went for clinical the first semester, but after that it was a first come first serve basis for the second and third (final) semester. The good news is that it will only be three semesters for you and you will be done. Good luck!

Hi, any feedback now that you have probably gone through and finished the program?? Looks like I'll be in the May time slot, I'm scared of how condensed the work will be due to the summer session....

That's great! Congratulations! I was chosen as alternate I am number 2. So I am hoping I can get a seat. Do u know of any alternates? When is the deadline for u to accept the letter? Can u give me info? I am crossing my fingers!
