PTEC Fall 09 Online LPN Students

I have read on here that there are a few that did not like this program. I was accepted to begin this August in the online program and was wondering if anyone has any tips for me. And if there is anyone else here that is starting then.

You can always apply for the day class and take it from there. If you think that taking the TEAS again would give you a higher score, I would go for it, but I think that you can only take it 2x? That test was really hard. There was a ton of stuff on there that I was not expecting, most of them the science related ones. Rock formations? How that relates I have NO idea.

Anyways.

Does PTEC still offer the Patient Tech class? PCT, I think? I would hate to get myself into a contract with a place and end up hating it.

yes, they do, but only at the st pete campus and only during the day -- won't work for me

i think i'm going to just wait for the next online class. hopefully by then, all the bugs will be worked out of the program as well. as far as the TEAS goes .... not sure if i want to retake -- if i score lower than the first try, that lower score i believe is the one they use! doesn't seem fair, but from what i've read, if you retest, the last test score is the one they use ..... i'm not a gambling kind of girl, so i'm not sure i want to test that one out.

I didn't get a chance to e-mail her yet today. I will though. You should get the study guide for the TEAS exam from the ATI site. It was pretty helpful.

did you buy one? if so, i'll buy it off you if you want to sell it. i used one i got from borders that was for all nursing exams and basically, just a review with some practice tests. i did very well on the practice exams, just don't know what happened once i took the real one.

it is a technical school located in Clearwater, Florida ..... another campus located in St. Petersburg, Florida .... the Clearwater campus is the one that just started to offer the part-time online class. first half is online - minus a few hours that are necessary to do on-campus. the remaining half is clinicals. website: http://www.myptec.org/

i took the teas, 2weeks ago. most def buy teas study guide or amazon.com: mcgraw-hill's nursing school entrance exams: thomas ...

i wish i would have checked out this book before the test.

that was the book i used. i decided to get that because it covered a lot of material and had several practice exams with a cd-rom to take more tests online, similar to the actual test -- timed, etc. i thought i knew everything -- plus, i just completed A&P I and Microbiology at SPC, so i figured i'd have no problem with the science questions and also scored high on my practice tests. then my TEAS had a bunch of earth science related questions on it .... how the hell does that figure into nursing? i never took any of the physical sciences ....at the college level anyway ... and mainly took biology, chemistry and physics I & II in high school .... geez!

Yes those science question threw me for a loop.

decimals, fractions, conversions (math)

I felt I did fine in reading and comp.

The McGraw book was actually like the Teas test.

I completely agree on the earth science questions. How they related to nursing baffles me...

yeah, i bought it from the site. i might take the teas again but if not i'll sell it to you if you still want it. it was really good. it had all that stuff on geology in the review.

I am going crazy waiting to hear something. I e-mailed Chris tonight. Hopefully I'll get some good news back tomorrow that someone didn't pay their $100 deposit (it's due tomorrow, right?) or that someone is not going to continue with the program... :::fingers crossed:::
