PHCC RN program

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi there everyone,

I am new to this site. I recently got in to the RN program at my college and i passed my CNA state test on monday. I was wonder what is the best hospital to workin at in New port richey and if anyone has connects so they can get me in a hospital because i went to community hospital and north bay and they just told me to go to there web site and see if there are any positions open. Should i ask to speak to the Head nurse instead of Human resources because i am already in the RN program and i just want a job at a hospital. So If any of you experience people out there can help please this is my second job and i am only 17. So if you could give me any advice on how to go on getting a job at the hospital please let me know thanks!

You sound just like me! I was 17 when I started at PHCC and an RN at the age of 20! I worked at Bayonet Point Hospital for almost 10 years. I am here to say that all the hospitals in that area are rough to work for but you have to find your place. I would recomend BPH over the other hospitals in the area. I live in Orlando now and the pay is better, and management seems to care a little more than BPH. I am not 100% sure but I think BPH still has the Union in place. I was there when it was voted in and thought it was going to save us but it did not. I left shortly after and I am not sure if it is any better. I will say this for sure....some of the BEST people work at that hospital! LIFELONG friends were made! I hope it all works out for you! Take care and CONGRATS!!!! :yeah:

Why not talk to somebody with the RN program at PHCC about sponorship with a local hospital. You may not need the education funding, but it could be a good way to get an "in".

Just a suggestion.

Blackneckphi,

How did you get into the PHCC RN program if you didn't have all the pre-reqs? I'm curious. Thanks.

I do have my pre qus done.

Hi My name is Amanda, and I'm from Springhill, I am wondering, what is the average wait time to get into a nursing program at PHCC or SPC, for the average student, that has been out of school for over 10 years, maried with 2 babies. thanks Amanda:nurse:

Well the i am not sure what the wait time is at spc but phcc did away with the waiting list now they go by where you live, gpa and net score.

Amanda,

I'm from Spring Hill too. PHCC is very competitve. It is based on your gpa, net and county you live in. Application deadline is Sept 15th. PHCC doesn't get into any big hurry in sending out acceptance letter. Good luck!!!

Sorry to hijack thread, but I just had a quick question.

Does PHCC only go primarily by Pre Req GPA or cumulative GPA for their RN Program? (along with NET score of course) I ask because my Cumulative GPA is only 3.2 but my Pre Req GPA will hopefully be significantly higher (I am still completing them)

I am still deciding on which local RN programs to apply for (probably all of them-ha!) but am worried my GPA is too low. I just finished my Bachelors in an unrelated field so I don't want to waste any more time applying and only getting rejected : (

Does anyone know how everything is weighted?? TIA for any help.

i think it is the pre-req gpa...apply for both lpn and rn so if you don't get into the rn you will probably get in the lpn and can do the bridge...my friend and i both applied for a january 2007 rn program at phcc i got in and she got in the lpn, i am graduating dec 2008 with adn and she is graduating in may 2009 with the adn from the bridge program..so by applying for both you increase your chances...

I actually am trying to get into the PTEC January 2009 LPN program, and am going to a seminar this week. ( I missed the PHCC 9/15 deadline) I really wanted to go straight into an RN program, but by the time I finish my prereqs, the earliest I could get accepted is Aug 2009 @ PHCC or Jan 2010 @ SPC. If I go the LPN route, I would finish in 2010, and be done with the bridge by 2011, which is the same time as if I went straight into an RN program. Plus, I hear that it is a lot easier to get in by doing the bridge, you don't have to worry about having a 3.9 GPA and living in the right county. I still have a couple pre-reqs to finish though, so I'd have to do them while in LPN school. I thought I'd be pretty bummed, but I am actually excited to apply. Thanks for the tidbit of advice!

just curious, but did you ever get into the pTEC LPN program?
