PHCC RN program

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi there everyone,

I am new to this site. I recently got in to the RN program at my college and i passed my CNA state test on monday. I was wonder what is the best hospital to workin at in New port richey and if anyone has connects so they can get me in a hospital because i went to community hospital and north bay and they just told me to go to there web site and see if there are any positions open. Should i ask to speak to the Head nurse instead of Human resources because i am already in the RN program and i just want a job at a hospital. So If any of you experience people out there can help please this is my second job and i am only 17. So if you could give me any advice on how to go on getting a job at the hospital please let me know thanks!

I actually didn't even apply. I went to their orientation, and decided the drive was too far. I am going to Keiser New Port Richey and graduate in December thank god, then doing Excelsior for my RN. (I'm 98% sure about that) Are you thinking of applying to ptec??

congrats to you :w00t:

i've applied for the 2nd time now to pTEC, but this time, i'm trying to go thru it under the baycare earn-as-you-learn program. i've had my first interview and was advanced thru to the 2nd interview -- that pretty much guarantees you will be accepted into their program.

i tried spc, but after waiting for over 2 years to get in, i gave up. before that, i applied and applied to spc, but that was when they had the wait list and it was virtually impossible to get into the program. now, they've done away with the wait list, but the GPA required for the program is ridiculously high. so, i figure i'll try the bridge program and see what happens.

and for the record, i was accepted into the galen lpn program, but just couldn't see spending that kind of money, so i declined when they offered it to me. everything happens for a reason, right

Good luck to you! I doubt I would have qualified for the generic RN programs either, so I went for the bridge track as well. Be glad you didn't overspend, now that you"ll probably be going to a great and inexpensive program. I sometimes feel stupid for spending 20k on an LPN program, but I am just happy that I see the light at then end!

good luck to you. i know what you mean about spending 20K ... galen was the same - 16K for LPN and then another 10-15K for the RN. when i applied, i was misled and thought the 16K was for the RN program. i applied for RN and then after testing, etc., i found out that they make you go thru their LPN program first, then RN .... i said no thanks to that one. at my age, i really didn't want to have to pay on a student loan for the rest of my life :uhoh3:

How was the first interview for EAYL? I've heard it can be pretty tough and they ask a lot of questions. Did you notice if there were a lot of applicants trying to get in the same way?

My interview went VERY well actually. Because of my education/degree, they really wanted me to go forward with their RN program, rather than their LPN program, but I am one class shy of what Baycare requires so I cannot do the RN yet. and .... I really don't want to put it off another year, so I'm moving forward with the LPN. They do ask you a lot of questions, but just like any other job interview, I researched the type of questions they may ask and prepared ahead of time to have immediate answers ready for them. I should have my 2nd interview by next Friday, so I'll keep you posted if you want.

When I left my interview, there was only one girl waiting. Not really sure how many they had apply, but there are only six seats available, so again - it's very competitive. I will say one thing: remember to "dress for success" I went to my interview in a business suit; the girl waiting to be interviewed was wearing a nice shirt with capri pants and flip-flops. That is NOT something to wear to ANY interview. :nono:

just my :twocents:

Thanks for the info. I completely agree on the flip-flops..not acceptable at all. I was hoping to go for the RN EAYL also in Sept., but I won't have micro finished prior to the interview. It will be completed before school actually starts, but not sure if they would accept that?? I'm glad to hear that your interview went well. Congrats!!! Keep me updated on if you got a spot.

you could call and ask them about it, but i don't think they will accept you if you have not completed all pre-reqs and rec'd passing grades in all. that was my problem too ... registered for the class to take this fall, but cannot apply for the EAYL until i receive a grade in the class.

i'm thinking it might be good for me to go this route first. get my feet wet as a new nurse, and then do the RN bridge at SPC.

I figured...oh well. I've applied for SPC's RN program and they don't require micro to be done prior to being accepted, only prior to finishing school. I was hoping EAYL would do the same, but it doesn't look that way :-(

Hope you get some good news soon! Good luck on the second interview!!

the only science you need to have completed can be found at this link:

they are accepting applications now for the rn program thru 9/15 i think it said .... here is the link:

good luck

PAXPHISH... if you don't mind me asking, what was your NET score? I just took the NET and got a composite score of 88 and a 971 out of 1000. This is my 4th time applying so just wanted some hope this time that this score will get me in.

Is the 88 your overall score on the net? Because I think they look at the reading comprehension and not overall...:( Mine was an 88 as well and a 971/1000...but dont think it matters
