yes! I'm a cna at my local hospitals, and your right the docs do not follow any protocall on the ISO rooms. are staff are unknowleged about the super bugs, including myself. I was just informed today, that C-diff could not be destroyed with Acohol rubs! after 6 weeks of not knowing that, I can't help but to think I helped spread this too! At least I'm educating myself now!!

I work in a hospital, and took a cna coorifice. I'm considered a PCT until I take my state exam. I am just a cna, with out a certificate basicly

I'm a CNA at a hospital, did you take additional coorifices to learn the foley, and IV lock, NG tube placement? that stuff so far seems to be out of my scope of practice. I'm hopeing they will offer me classes to do more. I work in FL on the Telemetry floor.

Hi I was just certified, and got a job at my local hospital, in Med Tele, I work 12hr shifts, about 3-4 days a week. I noticed we had about the same schd. My concern is this, (I have only been on my job for a few days) I have an average patient load of 30 or so. I usually do vitals and accucecks 2x shift, plus any new admits/discharges. I am a pre nurse student, and Pt. care is #1 concern for me, but the staff seem to be the opposite sp? They seem like the Pt is not there they go through all the motions of care, but with out care. I had questioned them about it and they all say you just develope a thick heart, because your so rush rush, that Pt can't even talk. Everything I learned in CNA class, is not applied in the Hospital, not even close. I love my patients so far, and I like to assist them in any I can, while I'm in the room, Like water, ice, toilet, I rarley see call lights, because I ask them of there needs, while getting vitals or accuchecks,just poking my head in a room. the other cna /nurses talk to each other while doing procedures, and not once did any of this conversation invole the patient!:angryfire So I've only been there for a few days, we'll see. I just had to vent and I also want to know if this is normal, to have 24-30 pts per CNA? :uhoh3:

It is really discouraging to begin a new job when so many have had bad experiences, I really do not understand what HCA means, though I should after a 9 hr orriantation yesturday and another 9 today, does it mean same owners? anyhow I'm just thankful for the job, I have no previous experiance, and I will go into it with a positive attitude. I am hearing what seems to be all bad things about HCA hosptals, not things you really want to hear when about to start for the company, but can't seem to help reading it. I am hoping to find someone who can talk positivly about there experiance at well Bayonet or HCA facilities. Thank you. Amanda

Hi, My class is so lax! we have a work book the goes along with the class book, word for word, so easy! We also have an in service work book that all CNA prep classes have, this is mandatory and graded. our work book is not. our instructer said we can follow the class sylabus or work ahead, or do nothing and cram to finish it berfore the end of program. She dont care. as long as our inservice book is completed for the state. the other work book is optional, but it will make a nice study guide if its filled in. ok thats all. hope that eases some jitters. The class is easy!!

Hi I live in the tampa bay are to. I am also activly looking for an LPN school, I'm 29 and never been to college. Did you find a school? I'm currently tanking a CNA class, if that counts for anything.

Hi, your post was helpful, I now realize I'm part of a class that is based on on how to pass the state exam, I like the class, and the RN who teaches it but, I do not really feel challanged, I think everyone takinging this class, is just looking for a job, with no intentions of moving up. I was hoping for more, all around care, not just focused on elderly, and nursing home based settings. I was thinking about doing the 6mo program that would result in a CNA/PCT also some medical billing coding. That sounds more like what I'm looking for, something that leads to a hospital. The class I'm in just prepares you fo HH/CNA LTC. I will finish this, but will just try to persue my LPN, why not its only 12mo school, with 2x the pay in the end. How do I get a job in the hosp. with only a not state approved CNA? Is is possible, I will do almost anything, except mabey, post mortem care lol. to even get my foot in the door! Keep in touch through out your program, as I will too.

Hi, My CNA course is only 5 weeks @ 2x week 10 classes all together. How come yours is so long, I'm jealous really. I feel like I made a bad choice, because I really want to be an ER tech or PCT, I'm not interested in LTC, and that is really all this course is about. We due clinicals on an anatomicaly sp? correct dummy, I'm going to stick out the class, since its paid for, but how do I go to the next step to get me were I want to be (hospital) ex..CNA2. Also when we filled out our State exam Application, we were told to fill in the bubble that said we have not completed a state approved CNA course, but insted we had to mark the bubble that said we were challengers? What does all this mean, and is there a DIFFERENCE IN State approved and not state approved CNA courses? sorry for the rant, but I'm so confused. And I plan on becoming a Nurse:nurse: in the future.

Hi I just started my CNA last night, and so far I'm so not wanting to go the LTC path, I knew this before I signed up, but I have faith something will work out in my favor, I am just sad that my cna class only focuses on ederly in LTC, with no real PT contact, I so much want to be an RN and be a lactation support nurse, or OB Med Surge anything other then long term care.

Hi I start my CNA classes on Monday, I am so excited and nervous, This will hopefully be the begining of my RN journey! My classes are 5 weeks 3 hours twice a week, Plus we have to take an additional cpr an first aid course.
