  1. Thank you for all the great replies, I'm sorry I'm so late checking back in. I've been without a computer for awhile now. Thankfully, my test went very well, and I passed! I had good skills, I drew the supine position, unconscious mouthcare, and bedpan. And handwashing, that was first. I only had a partner for the positioning, for the others I used the mannikin. I was so nervous because we were there all day, and I was in one of the last groups to test. I thought I failed for sure when one of the testers asked me, "Are you SURE you did everything according to the six principles of care?" (I did, she wanted to make sure I knew, she said.) So now I'm pounding the pavement, oh, and I got my certificate in the mail today, so it feels more official now. uhohbube, did you have your test yet? If you did, how did it go?
  2. I'm about to take my state test on Friday, this is my second round through this class. I am a Nervous Nellie, but trying to NOT freeze up, like I did in practice yesterday. I have learned so much more this time around, and feel even better about this being the right career for me, I can't wait to get started working, as soon as I pass. My mantra for today, I have been trained by the best, and I know I can do this! This is not going to beat me again. Is anyone else testing soon, or already taken theirs? What was it like?
  3. Thank you, everyone. I've been trying to stay positive, I have a month to study now. I appreciate the advice, and will keep you posted when I finally do get to test.
  4. I am so angry at myself right now, I can't believe I could be so stupid. Today was my state skills test, I've been drilling all week in the lab, and going over steps with friends from class. Last night was graduation and it was great. I couldn't sleep last night at all, worrying I'd forget the steps and flunk. I get all the way to school, and then realized I didn't have my social. Usually I have it in my purse, I don't know why it's not there, but it wasn't. One lady came in and told us, if we didn't have it, and could go home and get it, to do that. So I drive like heck to go home and get it, and get back, and they wouldn't let me in. Rules are rules! Even though they hadn't even started anything yet, they were still handing out paperwork to fill out. I asked if I could be rescheduled in tomorrow's group, and they refused. I asked why, since there aren't nearly as many people in tomorrow's group. Rules are rules, and they said I should've known better and now I have to reschedule on my own, and if I'm lucky, I can test at the end of next month. AND I have to take my written test all over again. AND it's going to cost me another $25 fee. I'm sorry to write a book here, I'm so upset right now. This was not what I had hoped to report to you today.
  5. Congrats Shaiko, way to go! It's not a mistake, you did it! :balloons::balloons:
  6. Congrats Sonomala! I'm so happy for you, good job. :clpty:
  7. Thank you for supporting me, it's a big help. Knowing these people are going to be watching me, that's what makes me nervous, and I get clumsy when I'm nervous. All I can do is my best, and I will. Please keep the good thoughts flowing, I'll let you know how it turns out.
  8. What a busy week this is going to be! My last day of clinical was Saturday, I did great on my final exam, and Thursday is graduation! My skills test is Friday, so we're going to be practicing in the lab this week. I am so nervous about the skills test, I just know I'm going to forget something and fail the whole thing. Does anyone have any advice for getting through this part? Thank you.
  9. I'm sorry you didn't pass, please don't give up. If the CNA isn't a requirement, then go for the LPN, you can do it! You know what to expect now, and the great thing about nursing is there are so many options.
  10. Great to know, I'll check that out. Thanks!
  11. Hi, and welcome! I'm glad to see more of us here.
  12. That is awful, they didn't tell you all that before they took your money for the class? Grrr!! Do the hospitals in your area hire CNA's as ER techs? I don't know a thing about that, but I hope you can do it. My class is at a vocational school, it's a lot more academic than I expected, but I love it. Class is twice a week, plus every other Saturday.
  13. This is the kind of thing my instructors is drumming into our heads, just because it's not our patient, doesn't mean we get to ignore them. What if it were an emergency, and we just walk by? You're a great CNA, and will be a fantastic nurse, because you care about the patients.
  14. Good luck to all of you, and congrats to all! I'm still hanging in there, we had our clinical orientation, but haven't yet practiced skills yet. They're really taking their time with this class. 3 months to go. I am disappointed that our class doesn't offer CPR training, for all the time it's taking, you'd think they could work that in for one day.
  15. I'm on my way! The first week was ok, so far we have just worked on study skills, resumes, and last night we began the chapter on residents rights and what a CNA does, and does not do. I can't wait to get to clinical, that's still a couple weeks away. How are all the other students doing?
