PHCC LPN Applicants/ New Students

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I was just wondering if there were any PHCC applicants out there just waiting for June/July, and what were your NET scores like? I guess I am trying to get a feel for what the "competition" is like?

Is anybody a new student at PHCC either North or West Campus? What are your feelings about the program? Any regrets or thinking you would have rather gone somewhere else?

I just took the NET on Friday and am debating if I need to retest; got a 97 on math and 73 on comp and 85 on written expression. I put in the app for North and West just to see if I can get on the alternate list; I doubt I will be getting in this go around since it is my first time applying but gotta start somewhere.

Cannot wait to hear from some locals, Liz

Would one surmise that it's pretty much impossible for a Hillsborough county resident to gain admission the phcc lpn program?

Quite honestly, I haven't a clue. I think someone on here said they live in Pinellas and were chosen as an alternate (maybe for the RN program, I'm not sure)?? But, my neighbor also applied to the program and didn't get in; I was a little upset to hear that, when I thought back about the alternate mentioned earlier in the threads somewhere. Plus, I don't know if they totally abide by the "NET scores is all that is considered" motto. Who's to say?

I say it doesn't hurt to try; what's the worst that could happen?

I'm kind confused about fees. I was told that we don't have to worry about registering for any classes on wise because that would be taken care of on the day of orientation. On a one on one basis. But fees are due tomorrow by 7 P.M. But It shows on wise, that I don't have any fees due, because I'm not registered for any classes as of yet. Could someone clarify this for me. What really is the proper protocol. Do we really register for classes on orientation day? When do pay our fees? I didn't see anything about registering for classes in the orientation packet....

Well, at one point after I got the original acceptance letter I went on WISE just to see if I could register, and if I remember correctly, WISE would not let me register because I needed prior authorization or something to that effect. And, I don't have the letter in front of me, but I think I recall the cover letter of our "welcome" packet said something about registering the day of orientation. You can't pay if you can't register; so, I have been going under the assumption that we must wait until orientation. Since we pulled our own FDLE background, I'm sure they will want to OK that before allowing someone to register, also.

If you find out otherwise, let us know. My husband went through the Paramedic program a few years back (The admittance process is similar for both programs.), but I can't recall how we paid for his classes? I purposely forgot so much of that "year-of-hell", and now here I am subjecting my own self to it! Aaaaahhh! I must be a glutton for punishment! LOL

Thanks Liz, you've been such great help.

I was wondering the same thing. In Hillsborough County, we don't have many choices for LPN programs. They are either starting off at 15,000 or they have at least a year until the programs start. I only live 30 minutes away from the NPR campus. I am registered at HCC, but would really like to start off in an LPN program so I can start working sooner rather than later (and honestly, I don't know if I want to go all the way to RN, I really want to work in Dr. Offices and such) I can't believe there are such few seats available for PHCC's classes!

@ sbchewning, you only lose 5% off your entrance score for not living in the county (hernando or pasco). that said, if your gpa is "great" and your teas scores are high enough you could still have a chance. it won't hurt to try.
