Nova Southeastern University Entry Level BSN?

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to know if there is anyone who has applied to NSU's Entry Level BSN program RECENTLY and got in. I want to apply for Fall 2013's program. What was your GPA when you applied, how hard was it do you think to get in overall, just any personal experiences with your application journey.

I have a 3.691 currently and have taken Anatomy 1 & 2 with labs and got A's. Now I'm taking Microbiology and getting a B currently, will I be okay? Still have Chemistry and Human Growth and Dev. to take in the spring.

Thanks everyone in advance! :)

Oh okay. I took the teas for the first time but totally bombed it. I scored 59% and had planned to retake it but didn't because i was taking classes this semester and couldn't find the time to study for it. I loathe that test though :roflmao: i wish they would do away with it! Anyway, i wanted to ask you, have you found out what a typical schedule is at Nova?

Yeah I hate that test too.. About the schedule for class at nova , I think its monday-friday from 8-3 somedays class will end at 1pm, but the person i spoke with could not confirmed the exact schedule. I was told that the schedule changes every semester.

From those who have been accepted, who has applied for the Baptist scholarship? Has anyone heard anything from them?

I am planning to apply soon, just working on the personal statement.

Hello everyone I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone has gotten accepted to the main campus for the fall 2013 program?

Thanks. At least that gives me an idea or so. I have kids and i have to work out schedules way before school starts. Look at me getting carried away as usual:whistling:. I haven't even received an acceptance letter yet  Well if i do i will be prepared right. Anyway, thanks again for your input.

Hello everyone! I recently applied to the entry level nursing program at nova for the fall of 2013 and got accepted. I am now waiting for an interview for the baptist scholars program. Good luck to all!

Hi everyone! It's so fun reading through these and remembering the waiting game... I'm second semester main campus and I'm having a blast! For those of you that have been accepted, congrats, and for those of you waiting, hang in there, there were people from my cohort that were accepted literally the week before. First semester is, well, interesting to say the least. My schedule was Mondays anatomy and physio 1-3 and sometimes later depending on what was going on. Tuesdays I had off, Wednesdays a writing class 9-11:30, math 1230-230 and physio 3-5. Thursdays physio 1-3 and sometimes later and then Fridays a writing class from 9-1130. Last semester was the last to have an official math class but I'm sure they will be replacing it with something else. To give you an idea on what's ahead, study, study, study. There were 80 that came in to main campus and 30 failed anatomy and physiology. If you fail that class, you cannot continue. The following semester you have to retake it and once you do pass it, then you can move on but your original peers will already have been a semester ahead of you. It sucks. That being said, it is not impossible to do well in it, just figure out your study habits early and don't get sucked into drama and listen to what *******has to say. She is the physio professor, even for Kendal campus, you all will be driving up to main campus first semester to take her class. She is brilliant, and most of all really cares about her students so use her knowledge and don't be scared to ask questions in class!!! Record her lectures, print out the power points ahead of time and then go back and listen to the lectures again and fill in what you need. All the information you need for the tests she will cover in class and via her power points but if there are things you don't understand or need to clarify (because there is a lot of information in such little time) read about it in the book or google, etc but don't learn more in depth than what she gives. You will go nuts. The other classes will be minimal study time and you learn to go with the flow. Good luck! I've really liked nova. Like any school, it's not perfect. There are some professors that will drive you crazy, but hey, whatever. You will learn a lot and graduate with a BSN and that's all that matters.

Oh ps I forgot to add... If you haven't had your interview yet... They really don't care exactly WHAT your answer is, they want to see that you're capable of having a well versed conversation and that you're calm and cool. Honestly if they ask you what kind of flower you want to be and you draw a blank, tell them. Be honest. Tell them that you've thought about how you'd tell them how you would save the world as a nurse not what kind of flower you're going to be! Lol. This is an exciting process you're going through, you should express it as such. Show them how enthusiastic you are, not that this is a deathly frightening experience. It's not. Everything in life happens for a reason. If you give it your best and you don't get in it really isn't the end of the world. I promise. :)

Hi Andrea thanks for the feedback! How is that writing class the first semester? I might get the anatomy and physiology class waived since I took a similar one at fiu. How did you do the first semester? All I've heard had been terrifying things from that one anatomy and physiology class.

Hey lessy_rn! The writing class is fine, nova has really impressed me with all the resources to help with writing in APA format. I had never written APA and I did fine. I got all A's my first semester but one of them was an A-. I wouldn't get my hopes up too much getting the physio class waived, they want you to take it there even though we have all taken a whole year of it prior and honestly the professors for it are the highest quality professors you will ever see so its worth really leaning it from them. They are not nursing professors, they teach the med students and are brilliant. I got an A in physio, it's totally doable.
