    Hi all!

Is there a waiting list in MDCC's nursing program? I am currently taking my pre-reqs at Broward Community College and thinking of transferring to Dade because BCC will not accept applications to the program until Jan 07 for the Aug 07 class.

    Thanks!

did you get into the RN program???

I graduated BCC and became an RN last year

Thanks for your quick response. I am currently taking my pre-reqs at BCC for ASN but the waiting time is ridiculous. I'm checking other schools maybe after I finish taking Micro next summer.

So far I'm doing good on my GPA and hoping to maintain it. I have one concern, we can't afford private schools and don't want to take student loans either. I'm keeping my options open. Thanks again and good luck to you

I started BCC in fall of 2005 after a year and 8 months of being on the wait list.

During the wait, I completed my AA in prenursing for the future BSN so it wasn't a waste of time. Now with My RN I can go straight to RN-BSN program at a university without any more classes!

Hi, I am 2nd sem at MDC with a Baptist scholarship. I originally applied to accelerated but was shut out at the time due to administrative snafu. Now I am glad iit turned out like this because Baptist is great (& only 1 sem longer). In my program there are very few options for clinicals since the work is Baptist Health centered, however when I do psych (3rd sem) there are more options since Baptist has no psych dept. Good luck, you'll love it. It's hard & intense but very interesting & rewarding.
To check your options I recommend going to the admissions dept. at Med Campus & just looking at the schedules posted on the bulletin board. That's how I found out in advance of receiving documents at orientation.
Hello I read that you are got a scholarship through Baptist and I just wanted to ask you what the committee interview process was like with their board and what type of questions you were asked. I have submitted my application to them and I got a letter from them stating they had received my application and will call to notify me of my interview date and time .... I'm extremely nervous and would very much appreciate any feedback in regards to the interview process and their program. Thanks in advance for your reply!

:spin:hey, I went thru the interview for baptist scholars.
they will ask a few questions like:
    Why di you choose nursing
Where do you see yourself in 5 yrs
What would you do if you saw another nurse mistreating a patient
Name a time when you handled a bad situation with a coworker successfully--
how would you handle a rude patient/ family member

    good luck!

I was chosen and went thru the program. you can do a search for threads regarding the program

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it. What school did you get in through, Miami Dade? I'm waiting to get accepted from Baptist through Barry. What is your take on their program ... where they helpful? .... was it really hard?... etc. How long was your contract with Baptist for? If I get accepted I would have to sign a contract for 3 year ... it seems like a long time, but it's a good hospital.

"what is the difference between Nursing-R.N. (Generic) (Preselect) (A.S.) and the regular generic Nursing-RN?!"

The first is the default "major" for pre-nursing, when you're taking nursing prerequisites for the ASN (associate degree in nursing). When you get into to the ASN program on the Medical Campus or Homestead, when you take actual nursing classes, you are then actually pursuing the ASN degree. The two-year track is the generic track. If you have a B.S. degree already, you can apply for the accelerated track. After you complete your ASN degree, you can sit for the NCLEX test, and if you pass, you will be a licensed RN.

As for the grading/testing for admissions, please see this post:
