U.S.A. Florida

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to a move to FL from NE OH. I'm an RN with 4 years experience M/S, Tele, ER.

I haven't worked since July 2009 after my unit was closed and 200, yeah beleve it or not,

were laid off. Since then I've had some interviews, but nothing panning out.

According to the FL application, I would have to apply by endorsement. OK, Can anybody

help me wrap my head around the "Endorsement" aspect. How do I obtain one? Who would be able to

provide me with one?

Anything or even a direction to go to would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Roller.

Well... here is a link... I just got my license by endorsement in florida last month.

Scroll down and read all the instructions. It's all pretty clear... but here is the basics. You fill out the application (which you can do online and have to pay a fee which I think is $223 or something like that). You have to do 2 fingerprint cards and send them in to the FL BON (instructions are on website). Then you have to have the state where you are in verify your license. If the state (that you currently hold a license in) participates in the nursys verification (go to www.nursys.com to see) than it is easy. You just fill out a form on that website and pay a $30 fee and the information can be electronically transmitted to the FL BON. Otherwise, you print out a form and send it in to the board in the state you are licensed in, and they fill it out and send it directly to florida BON (there may be a fee associated with that as well). Then you can check the status of everything online... can take up to 30 days for the FL BON to process everything. But that's it... pretty simple... just a matter of some paperwork, and a little expense.

Did you take the Medical Errors class online? If so who did you use? I see that there are several that are approved each costing different. I saw one that only charges $8.00 but wasnt sure if I should use them.

You can take it online. I had to take it at my lpn job last year, so I didn't redo it. But yes, there are lots that offer medical errors online. It is an easy class. Haven't you taken it before?

Just make sure that it states it's approved by the FL BON and you should be fine.

Oh ok, I didn't realize that it wasn't a requirement for all states.
