IRSC spring 2014 hopefuls!

U.S.A. Florida

Hello all! I just wanted to start a topic for those of us applying to the 2014 ADN program at IRSC. I am so excited to finish my prerequisites and apply! LetsAll compare our application processes and wait to hear back from the program together! My names is Emily and I am taking a&p1 and micro this summer, then taking the NLN in August and submitting my app!

Tell me about yourself !

So I just got the review book today from amazon and it's a lot smaller than I thought it would be!

Just curious, what did everyone get in a&p? I think I'm going to end with an a in lab and a b in lecture. I'm also taking micro next summer session, anyone else take it yet?

@Epooler2013 I got an A in A&P lecture and lab. In micro lecture I got a B, the hardest I have ever worked in a class, seriously :p in lab I got an A. Good luck with the summer courses!

@brittani22 I've had the book for a while, but also have been slacking on studying. I am going to the NLN review sessions that IRSC offers, hopefully those help :)

Just took my finals and looks like I pulled off two A's! Hopefully I can do as well in micro! What exactly do we focus on?

Micro is all over the place, basically they start with basic biology and end with a bunch of diseases that we need to know the cause/susceptibility/duration/ etc. Also, our different barriers of defense inside of our bodies ex: leukocytes--white blood cells. It's a lot of information, but extremely interesting. The lab is very simple, the lecture is just where you need to know EVERYTHING in depth. Who are you taking the class with? @epooler2013

I have the lecture with Fischer at the slw campus and my lab is with Bowen also at slw

I somehow slipped up and got a B in a&p lecture and an A in the lab. Nervous about micro :nailbiting:

I took micro when I was also taking A&P. If you guys are just taking mico alone, or with easier courses, it may be to your advantage! Good luck, guys. :)

Hi everyone,

Another Spring 2014 hopeful here! I'm currently taking Micro at SLW campus and planning on taking the NLN-PAX in August. Good luck to everyone! Hope to hear from you all.

I'm finding it hard to focus on studying for the NLN while taking micro in the summer. Does anyone know when the next chance to apply is (after Spring)?

Hey Brittani22

If you have taken all your prereqs you should have a good base knowledge. I studied the NLN review book for 2 weeks intensely and did very very well on the test. If I were you I'd take it and see how you do ... worst case scenario ... you don't get in and take it again for the next application period ( you can take it again after 6 months)
