Hi.Anyone out there applying for fall 2013? There are changes this semester and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of score we may need on the NLN to have a chance at a spot. The application packets aren't available yet and I'm getting anxious! Anyone know when the will put them out?

@jonnyvirgo it was definitely intense...but I think it's just because they really want to weed out the people who shouldn't be there.

Side note FYI...I just went to have my drug test done...and even though I had an appointment for noon, I didn't get called back until about 40 minutes after my appointment time. So don't count on making it in and out of there fast!

at the last session i went to, they said that if the conditions were met, they would open up the acceptance pool to more applicants, so the number of ppl accepted was larger than usual, and i think they kept the alts at the same number, or some nice combination of the 2. They said since there were so many applicants, they wanted to accept more students but "certain requirements needed to be met before that was possible"

i guess that was met. Additional staff? new curriculum? I hate being the guinea pig class..it happened in medic school and it was very unpleasant and now its happening again :mad:!!!

i also got my drug test done earlier today, in st lucie. i had no choice but to walk in--the paper said they dont do drug tests on saturdays, but if you try to set an appointment online, the only available day was a saturday ? wtheck ??

for me it took about 15 minutes to get called to the back, however, i had juss woken up so i already had my...morning excretion lol, so i asked if i could have some water to get me going. she said have as much as you like. THAT process took an hour, as if you dont fill it where they need it, theyll toss it out haha. I must've had 12 cups before i could do it haha. Hope everyone doesn't wait until monday to do it, could be hectic :S

I heard last semester they accepted 70 "regular people" and 30 LPN/medics. Not sure how true that is... Did my drug test on Friday, I too was there at 10am so I must have seen you jonnyvirgo, I brought my 10 year old son with me LOL. And yeah, there were no appointments to be had on Friday or today except Saturday which you can't do a drug test then. I too feel like a lot of things were thrown at us, but I am very sure that there will be some who say "I didn't know that" and will be "out of the program" all the better for us alternates! Yep I counted too, 6 didn't show...better for us as well. I am feeling pretty hopeful, fingers crossed for us all. See you guys on Wednesday! :)

@dreamgirl823 .... FYI. There were a Total of 70 of us accepted into the program in the last class. LPN/medic's included. Congrats on your accomplishments so far!

Uggghhh currently in the orientation this is soo mind numbing. And Were only an hour in !! Lol I forgot how hard it is for me to sit still 1pm cant come soon enough.

Also I noticed there's gotta be at least 20 fellow murses here ! Thats gotta be a record or something lol

This thread is for nursing students thats part of a program at a specific institute here in florida. So there isn't too much we could help you with 'post-graduation'. we couldn't really offer you much advice other than how to get into our program

your question would be best suited/answered in another section, possibly international nursing or something to that extent. If you have a specific question about job sites/opportunities/demographics for relocating workers, try the search bar at the upper right corner, and i'm sure you'll be loaded with plenty of helpful information from others facing the same issue as you, or those who have already faced and overcome it =]
