IRSC ADN Applying for fall 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Hi.Anyone out there applying for fall 2013? There are changes this semester and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of score we may need on the NLN to have a chance at a spot. The application packets aren't available yet and I'm getting anxious! Anyone know when the will put them out?

Congrats to everyone who is about to start the program! I want to apply for Spring but feeling a bit intimidated as I go through the study guide. In a way it makes me feel like I don't have what it takes to pass. Did anyone else feel this way or am I just freaking out way too much? :nailbiting:

@Brittani22, I felt the same way!! I am an "older" student, I will be 38 on the 23rd eek, and haven't taken college classes in about 17 years, graduated HS 20 years ago. When I began my college journey 2 years ago I tested into Elementary Algebra on the CPT, but thankfully did not have to take it because I took the Elem Algebra 17 years ago when I also bombed the CPT. Math is my worst (obviously) and weakest subject, so I knew I needed to focus most of my time and studying on the math section. I went to all of the review sessions that IRSC offers (minus the A&P because I was just finishing up A&P 2), I purchased the NLN study guide and did all of the math sections. The science section seemed more difficult in the sessions and the guide than it did when I actually took the NLN. I did fairly well, 135, on the NLN. It was enough to be an alternate (my GPA is 3.92), and was accepted into the program the day after our orientation in early May. I studied hard core for a good solid 2 weeks. We happened to be on spring break so I was able to focus all of my attention on the NLN during the break which was nice. Have faith in yourself. Most of the science is what you have already learned, and the english is pretty straight forward. I even did better than expected on the math, I didn't finish in time (LOL I am so slow and OCD I spent too much time making sure my answers were correct). I am sure you will do great!! Don't sweat it. Study as much as you can before classes start and I am sure you will rock the NLN. Good luck to you!! One of my friends is applying for the Spring too...so excited for you guys!!

Is anyone attending midnight madness tonight?

I was thinking about it but I don't know if it will be worth it to stand in the lines:) Are you going?

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing. It sounds like it will be fun based on the info from the book store. I know Allison1993 said she will be there and I have another friend going as well. I am on the fence though. Reg4fun69 are meeting at the book store on Monday at 11am, if anyone is interested. We are going to grab lunch afterwards too. I will PM you my number and if you end up going text or call me and we can meet up tonight. I don't have my kids so there is really no reason not to go other than not wanting to deal with the lines LOL.

Congrats jonnyvirgo, that was close!! HEHE Did everyone notice under the ADN 2013 schedule that classes have to be paid for 8/14!! My pay date on myirsc is 8/16. So glad I checked, no one had told me this. Just wanted everyone to have a heads up.

Also, forgot to ask: has everyone done their math calculations? I haven't finished yet:sniff:

holy moly the 14th really ? i better get a move on thanks for the heads up. And is it confirmed that our books have arrived? I did the med calc hw during the orientation lol but as far as the workbook stuff goes, i haven't even gotten the book yet. The first one is due in sept so i dont mind taking a weekend to go through all of it once class starts

@johnnyvirgo no most our books have not come in yet

Just got classes paid for, waiting around at the bookstore, they still haven't come in yet. They're "hoping" the books will come in by Friday. Way to go IRSC

Hey everyone, does anybody know what our "ATI ID number" is? In the welcome e-mail it states "Monday, August 26th is a mandatory fundamentals course orientation. It is in room H-106 from 8am-1:00pm. Bring your computer, math homework, B-learning style assessment report, a number 2 pencil, and your ATI ID number"

Thanks

The directions for the ATI Critical Thinking Exam can be found on the back of the BE Learning Styles direction paper that we got at the May 1 orientation. Once you follow the directions, it generates a username and ID number for you. If you can't find that paper, let me know and I can write them out for you. :)
